GW Drops New Age of Sigmar Battlescroll Rules Update For April

warhammer-age-of-sigmar-warscroll-updatesIf you’ve looked at any of the meta results, Tzeentch is flying high, and the new April AoS Battlescroll seems to target wizards specifically.

GW has been keeping a better eye on the meta with this edition of AoS, and a couple of armies have been doing really well for the past few months. With the last two Death books coming out, it seems like a perfect time to change up the meta again.

As we said, this seems to focus more on mages, with the main changes coming to the Rally command ability and the Arcane Tome enhancement. Let’s take a closer look!

The new Battlescroll comes from Warhammer Community.

April Battlescroll AoS 4

With so many recent releases, we’re seeing quite a lot of volatility in terms of faction performance, with some factions like Flesh-eater Courts or Fyreslayers surging in this season, while previously dominant factions like Seraphon have been struggling.

In terms of specific factions, both Kruleboyz and Slaves to Darkness have been underperforming on the competitive scene, so they get a round of targeted buffs and points adjustments, respectively. On the flip-side, the arcane might of the Lumineth Realm-lords and Disciples of Tzeentch have seen them take specific points increases, while Beasts of Chaos and Gloomspite Gitz have both seen some early adjustments in the wake of their battletomes.

Starting with the actual results, Kruleboyz needs all the help they can get right now, so they do get some points adjustments. Seraphon has a new book coming out, but they will get some help to tide them over until then. Next up, plenty of factions are doing exceptionally well, so they will be the ones getting hit.

There are two headline changes this time around, to the Rally command ability and the Arcane Tome enhancement. In the case of the former, a cap of 10 wounds has been introduced on the amount of models you can return. Limits have also been put onto the latter, so now WIZARDS can’t take it for that extra spell cast – nor can PRIESTS or KHORNE models, both of which should be too pious to indulge in sorcerous tomfoolery.

Both of these should hurt the two factions at the top and, hopefully, Disciples of Tzeentch, as they have been riding high for the past few months (ever since their book came out).

April Battlescroll AoS 2

Kruleboyz get two different Dirty Tricks now, which might be enough to get them out of the dumpster. Then, Gutrippaz are going to be harder to hit by anything that’s not a hero or monster. We’ll see how much these do, but they have been at the bottom for a long time now… so let’s hope so!

April Battlescroll AoS 3

Slaves to Darkness get points decreases across the board that could easily get them to the 50% win rate. Then pretty much all the top armies are getting point increases, with Disciples of Tzeentch getting hit the hardest. Again, these seem like decent changes with nothing too crazy all at once, but we’ll have to see the next meta-watch to see the changes in effect.
