New Deathwing Assault Army Box Value is Hot Fire!

deathwing assault box set value pricing savings dark angelsHere are the wild savings and value for the Warhammer 40k Dark Angels Deathwing Assault Army Box in our pricing breakdown!

The new Dark Angels Deathwing Assault Army Box Set is here for Warhammer 40k, but will it be worth the pickup? The box comprises 16 minis (six new ones and upgrade sprues) and is the starting point for all the new models! However, the real question is, what kind of value and savings will be inside this box?

If you want early access to the Dark Angels 10th Edition Codex supplement and the new minis, this is really the only way to do it. However, army box contents usually come out weeks or months later. So, if you can’t get your hands on a box, it may not be worth paying higher prices on the secondary market, as the codex supplement and models should be released separately soon after.

40k Deathwing Assault Army Box Set: Value & Pricing

We initially used $210 as a price point, as the latest army boxes have gone for right around that. It is also similar to the Vashtorr box released with the Primaris Azrael in 2022. However, the Deathwing Assault box turned out to be $220, which was entirely unexpected.

deathwing assault contents

The Deathwing Assault army box gives you Belial himself, five Deathwing Knights, 10 Terminators, two complete sets of Dark Angels upgrades, dataslate cards, and the full codex supplement with a cover exclusive to this set. That’s a whole lot of elite assault troops packed into one box, a great way to start your own Dark Angels army – and the first place you’ll be able to get hold of the contents.

Box Set Name Price Qty of Minis Extras
Leviathan $250 72 Leviathan Rules, Mission Deck, SM Transfer Sheet
Deathwing Assault $220 22 Codex, Transfer Sheet
SM Spearhead Force $230 20 Transfer Sheets For Squads

Here, you can see how the new Deathwing Assault Dark Angels Army box compares to Leviathan, which featured 25 Space Marine and 47 Tyranids models, and the Space Marines Battleforce from Christmas 2023.

The Deathwing Assault Army Box will get you early access to the supplement and minis, but what kind of value does it have?

  • Belial $45 (based on named characters)
  • Deathwing Knights $65 (based on new terminators, but it could easily be $70 or more since it’s a different kit)
  • 10 Terminators $130
  • Dataslate cards $35 (based on Ad Mech cards)
  • Two sets of Dark Angel’s upgrades $70 (very similar contents to the Cadian upgrade box; those are $35 each)
  • Codex Supplement $60 (since it’s a supplement, it could be less, but this is the first of 10th Edition, so we’re not sure)

Total MSRP: $405

Total value versus (estimated) $220 box price: $185

Is The Deathwing Assault Box Worth It?

deathwing assault box setYes! Even if this goes for a lot more than we predicted, everything in the box is expensive, which gives you a lot of value with this. There is also ‘early’ access to the new miniatures and, of course, the codex! This is worth the pickup if you want to play Deathwing or love Terminators in genreal.

What to Buy Next?

Inner Circle Companions 3

Well, these are not all the new miniatures, so if you already have a Dark Angels army, why not pick up the rest of them? If you’re starting the army, you’ll need some tanks and dreads to support your Terminators. Then, some units to score you points, as Terminators are fantastic, but they are costly points-wise to do things like Investigate Signals.

Honestly, though, this gives you a good base of really tough Terminators, and you can play around that; just be sure to build out enough to keep scoring objectives while still moving the Terminators.
