Futureproof your Warhammer 40k terrain from rules changes with this modular set that works like LEGOs at a fraction of the price.
We talked with the team behind the new modular terrain system and are very excited about this one! They are taking the idea of LEGOs and applying it to Warhammer 40k to make a terrain that fixes many common pitfalls with the game. FutureProof terrain is affordable, looks good, and can mimic tournament setups precisely. Perhaps most importantly, it’s modular enough to stay with the persistent rules changes. This will be hitting Kickstarter from Snot Goblin Games soon, so be sure to follow the project by clicking here!
Futureproof Your Warhammer 40k Terrain
To kick things off, can you share what initially drew you to the Warhammer 40k Universe?
Snot Goblin Gaming: I love Warhammer. It’s an amazing hobby. There’s nothing quite like getting together with friends to throw dice and play with the plastic soldiers that I spent months painting.
A good set of Warhammer 40k terrain seems to be a pain point for many players. What was your experience with it that led you to make your FutureProof Modular Wargaming Terrain?
Snot Goblin Gaming: Certainly, Terrain. Ugh. At first, I tried using things I had around the house: cereal boxes, soda cans, bricks… but that looked terrible.
- Enough was enough. I sat down, and I listed all of the things I didn’t like about Warhammer terrain-
- It’s massive. It’s a huge pain to store and basically impossible to transport.
- It’s expensive. Games-Workshop’s selection is meager and man it costs a lot, and third-party stuff isn’t much cheaper.
- It’s boring. Between the storage space and the cost, I’d just rearrange the exact same 5 or 6 ruins for every game.
Modular Wargaming System Is Perfect Terrain For Warhammer 40k
With those points in mind, I once again decided to try making my own. No plywood this time. This time, I was serious. Sturdy, precise, injection molded plastic—and most importantly, MODULAR!
After an insane amount of R&D (seriously, you’d never believe it,) I finally came up with terrain that I really, really want to own.
I had created FutureProof Modular Wargaming Terrain.
As we said, a good set of Warhammer 40k terrain can be a big problem for hobbyists. It is often the one element that makes or breaks games even. So, how does FutureProof Modular Wargaming Terrain differ from traditional options? Can you highlight some key features that set FutureProof apart from more static options?
Think LEGO, but for tabletop gaming— This system solved problems I didn’t even know I had!
- Customizable: you can reconfigure your ruins in an infinite number of ways, from one-man barricades to ten-story mega-fortresses.
- Flexible: if the rules change, so can your terrain
- Efficient: when it’s time to pack up, just break it down for storage or transport.
- Precise: it was designed to be able to mimic all of the major tournament terrain layouts
- Reasonably Priced: using injection molding allows me to produce it as a price point that’s WAY cheaper than GW, and comparable to a lot of cardboard or MDF options.
So, after an extensive R&D phase, what’s next for the FutureProof system?
I have finally created something I am really proud of, and I’m excited to share this terrain with the Warhammer 40k community! I’ll be launching the Kickstarter in February 2024, and I hope you’ll consider joining me in bringing this project to life!
This seems like a great set of terrain to keep your games of Warhammer 40k on point, no matter how the rules change! We love LEGOs and Warhammer 40k terrain, so we’re excited to see how all this turns out. Be sure to click the link below to learn more about the project and the launch details!
