3rd Place: Will Whitaker – Sisters of Battle
2nd Place: Pearce Condren – Thousand Sons
1st Place: Innes Wilson – Space Marines (Dark Angels)
Innes’ winning Dark Angels were led by an Apothecary for Lethal Hits, Azrael for one of the best single models in the faction, and Sustained Hits for his unit, plus a Judiciar to help hunt enemy characters in melee.
A single Assault Intercessor squad adds some basic bodies that favor closer range, while two more units with Jump Packs do the same but with more movement! Three Deathwing Knights add in some fantastic melee Terminator bodies.
An Eradicator squad offers a few more ranged bodies that can help target monsters and vehicles. A unit of Inner Circle Companions can pair with a character and act as a set of bodyguards. A Repulsor brings in the only vehicle and helps out with its great ranged shots, while two Scouts wrap up the Dark Angels with some solid utility and cheap bodies.
The list then ends on a single Callidus for some stratagem hate.
The North East Open showcased some impressive displays of tactical Warhammer 40k gameplay with these army lists. Thousand Sons, Sisters, and Space Marines claimed the top spots, showcasing a potential shift in what players should consider.
Overall, studying these army lists can provide valuable insights and inspiration for your own army-building for both newer Warhammer 40k players and pros alike.
