After months of waiting to see what the deal is, Fantasy Flight has finally shown us a preview of the new Tantive IV.
I can say so far is’…uh…wait what?’ As well as ‘Oh wow, that’s awesome!’ You’ll see what I mean as we continue through this article.
Some differences being the Tantive IV has the ability to fight back with the fore having some weapons, and the ability to equip more weapons. Also a new range ruler for out to range 5 attacks.
That’s pretty nice, though a bit cheap to the enemy also. But, I wouldn’t be surprised if they added some more agility or things of the sort to it do to the extreme range. We’ll see there. Also has the same weird movement template thing that I still don’t fully know how to read. But now lets take a look at the other stuff it has.
Also has a new type called Limited. Not fully sure what that means, as it sounds like the, well, I haven’t a clue what its called heh. But when the card has a black dot next to the name, unique I guess would be the name. Forcing you to only take 1 though, so maybe it means you can only
have 1 crew, so choose from the front or back to receive it?
Though, not sure how it’ll work. At the moment there aren’t any real concrete rules out for these ships, so what they do exactly is still up in the air. I’m feeling though that this came out it can perform multiple attacks at once. Why else would they have that many weapons available to them if they couldn’t fully use them?
Guessing it comes down to spending that energy to fire other weapons. We’ll see.
Looking at some of the weapons though, I can only say, eh? Hence what I meant earlier. Single Turbolaser. Spend 2 energy for a nasty attack at range 3-5. Except the enemy gets to double their agility. 4 attacks. So, we’ll either have it do massive damage against slow ships.
Engine Booster seems nice if you want to set yourself up to ram into a enemy ship, assuming you don’t first overlap them in that attempt. Tibanna Gas Supplies is nice. 3 extra energy for one turn, cannot complain with that one.
Ionization Reaction though, I like this. Spending 5 energy to become a bomb? Nice. Just be careful though, as it doesn’t say enemy ships. But hey, something that silly just seems like it be fun to do regardless.
And we have some random upgrades shown, 2 co-pilots and 1 named ship upgrade. Looking at the ship upgrade we have Dodonna’s Pride, letting you give 2 ships free actions when you use the Coordination action.
Not sure what to fully say on this preview as a whole though, as lot of the 24 upgrades promised in this ship weren’t shown. But hey, it gets the hype going right? And its working, because I’m a bit excited for the release, but that price still scares me a bit.
