First up is a big change to the way damage is dealt. According to the rulebook if you own the new starter set you should play with the new damage deck that’s included with the set.  But you know, only if “you own it”.

Second is the new factions for the game. The Resistance and their hot new X-wings can be fielded by the Rebel faction, and conversely the new Tie fighters can be take by the Empire faction as well.

Now before you buy up all the starter sets out there for the new ships keep in mind game stores will have them for sale on or around the 16th of September. Plus there are still Two SKU numbers from Fantasy Flight games that have not been used yet for the X-wing game. Some speculate that the new Tie, and X-wing will be available for purchase separately in the near future.

Next up take a look at the ships. These are not just repaints. The X-wing itself is a new sculpt as the engines fold close to form a full circle and the wings are split now, and when closed from a starfoil that’s flush with both top and bottom halves. The Tie fighter however does appear to just be a repaint. But that white pattern is very striking nonetheless!

The ship cards themselves are very comparable points wise to their Wave one versions (check out the base versions pictured), however for the extras you get such as extra shields, maneuvers (a Sengor’s loop for the ties / a Tallon roll for the X-wings), the points spread seems to be is very competitive.
