Recently another great gaming product went up on Kickstarter, and I think it’s one we can all appreciate; affordable tabletop terrain tiles!

Tablescapes is brought to you by Secret Weapon Miniatures, and they hooked me up with a sample to checkout and review.  As you know SWM has been around for awhile, producing high quality resin bases at affordable prices.

Well now they are taking basing to the next level and producing the base of every game, the tabletop!

Tablescapes is a tabletop gaming system that features 12″ by 12″ textured squares to create a very unique textured tabletop experience that is extremely customize-able.

The Tablescape panels are made from super durable plastic that is 1/2″ deep, and holds detail up to 1″ high, which seems to be more than enough to obscure most normal sized 28mm figures.

These tiles or panels seem to be made from a very shock absorbing material which along with it’s high level of surface detail, seems to keep figures from sliding all over the surface. That is always a plus in my book, and I’m sure with the application of paint, sliding will be almost eliminated.

The panels themselves lock together with a “compression clamp” that keeps each one in tension with the next with whatever tabletop shape you construct.

Speaking of constructing  because of their versatile 12″ x 12″ panel dimentiions you can create just about any table top size for most every game on the market today, from 4’x6″, 4’x8, 4’x4′, 3’x4′ and so on!

Plus you can even accessorize your models to match the tabletop with the corresponding style of bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures as well!

So check it out now, there is still time to lock in your very own Tablescapes terrain set today!

Tablescapes Update

When I last reported on Tablescapes, Justin McCoy, the founder of Secret Weapon, had raised $ 68,000 of his $ 80,000 goal after only a few days.  Now he is well over $ 200,000 and has unlocked

Justin McCoy, the founder of Secret Weapon Miniatures, has launched a Kickstarter for “Tablescapes” are 12″ x12″ tiles that are similar to Games Workshop “Realm of Battle” boards, but half the cost and way more versatile.  I am a huge fan of Justin’s work and I hope you will all support Justin in his efforts.  Here is the video:

And how Tablescapes fit together.  Compression clips keep the tiles held firmly together – with edge and interior designs for maximum stability while you’re gaming:

So far there have been 4 additional board designs unlocked.  Here they are:

And there will be both Battlefoam and KR Multicase cases for the boards so you can transport them safely.
