By Wesley Floyd | June 28th, 2018 | Categories: Age of Sigmar

New Stormcast & Nighthaunts Releases for July sigmar wal

We’re back at it again with the Age of Sigmar 2.0 updates, as GW revealed FAQs for all the factions and a very interesting Designer’s Commentary has folks talking.

Warhammer Community announced some FAQs to update everything over to Second Edition so make sure you check those Battletomes. TBH, it only makes sense that some things need to be tweaked when you port armies into a new edition of a game. But some comments from the designers are getting folks a little bit stirred up as well. Let’s take a closer look.

AoS 2.0: FAQ Updates & Commentary from Designers Revealed

There were some changes to each Battletome yesterday. They were all updated in preparation for the new edition of AoS. Some changes could have affected the way your army will play so read carefully!

Designer’s Commentary

After the FAQ popped, Warhammer Community released a list of questions that were specifically answered by the designers. This is not the same as the FAQ. They just wanted to clear the air by answering some confusing topics. You can check out the full list for yourself, but the’s one question that stood out to us.

designer FAQ

Anyone who has played any version of Warhammer for more than 30 minutes knows that you can’t always have the models you want. Some people counter this by kitbashing a model together or just using a different model as a “stand in”. Some people have all the models they want to play with but paint them in a different color scheme. Sadly, you’re now at your opponent’s mercy if you do this (except in Tournament play, where the TO makes the call on what is acceptable, etc..). They can choose not to play with you if your army is a little “off”.

An entire component of playing Warhammer is putting together models and painting them how you want them to look. The good thing is that your opponent is a Warhammer player too and they understand that it’s impossible to have everything perfect. So unless your opponent is a literal Troll who doesn’t like any fun, you shouldn’t have any problems.

Don’t be that guy…

Base Sizes

Some people may want to ditch the square bases and throw on some sleek new round ones. If you were curious as to what base size you need, you can find it in the Designer’s commentary at the bottom. Just scroll down to your faction and follow the chart.

Have you read the FAQ for your faction yet? What changed in your army? How do you feel about the designer’s view on proxies? Let us know in the comments of our Facebook Hobby Group.
