It’s not Trash, It’s a Conversion: eBay Miniature Rescue

ebay feature reBay Miniature Rescues is back again with another video, and this time he’s turning old bits into an insane conversion!

eBay Miniature Rescues is a unique channel that shows you how to take beat-up, damaged minis, and restore them to their fullest potential! It’s a relatively new channel on YouTube and it’s super fun to watch what Casey is able to do with some once hopeless miniatures. Be sure to check out all his stuff here!

This week, he’s helping you realize how awesome Orks are and how easy it is to smash together minis and make them UH-MAZE-ING. Check it out!

Step 1. It Makes the Narrative or it Gets the Hose

The Rule of Cool is still a rule. But You know what makes things really cool? When they’re thematic and have a story behind them.

Step 2. Visualize it!

Maybe you have photoshop, maybe you don’t. But if you do, or something similar, like Gimp, you can use it to game plan the model. You might also see a dope non-Warhammer universe piece of art and wonder how to bring it to life. The key is to have a clear understanding of where you’re going. But don’t worry if it changes, all conversions take on a life of their own in the end.

Step 3. Get Inside of the Heads of the Faction

Say to yourself, what would my faction do? In this case, they would use all the parts and pieces they could from the best factions, Orks!

Step 4. Add Spice Bits Until Complete

The key points to think about are is this a plausible Games Workshop model (I’m looking at your brick house aircraft) and what can I add to tie it together. In this case, a chain works well, because Orks love chains. You can take that fact to the bank.

Step 5. Paint it

Here, eBay Mini Rescues used ProAcryl to great effect but let’s be honest, if you want it painted fast, Army Painters’ new line of Speedpaint is probably the way to go if you don’t have an airbrush. If you want to see everything The Army Painter has going on, check it out here.

Lastly, you’ll want to base your model. The Battlefields Basing Kit makes it easy. All you have to do is affix a couple of the bigger pieces on the base first, then apply glue to the rest of the base and dip it in!

Hit play on the video for all the details on how to assemble your miniatures like a pro and make your own awesome conversions!
