Are you Math Hammering but the math is getting too complex? Check out the Relic WarGaming AoS Simulator! It does the heavy lifting for you.
AoS is a game that works off of a static statline. Your units will always wound on a certain value no matter what they’re attacking. Because of that, you’re able to Math Hammer so many different outcomes of what you could be attacking. What gets tricky is when you’ve got different save/wound profiles of units to factor in.
If you try to Math Hammer in your head and at a certain point it just all gets too complex, then this AoS Simulator by Relic Wargaming is perfect for you.
The AoS Simulator is NOT a Dice Rolling App
AoS Simulator isn’t a dice rolling app. It works off of the law of averages to give you an estimated look at unit efficiency for different things they might face. For example, the app will tell you how much value you get out of a Stormvermin squad against something like Blightkings or some Stabbas. With that out of the way, let’s take a look at the app itself.

If you follow the link above, you’ll come to a page with a bunch of graphs, stats, etc. Zooming in on the left side of the screen, you can plug-in units that you want to test. You’ll need to have their stats on-hand, as well as how many points they cost. Once you plug all of these things in, it’ll calculate their efficiency. Side note: you can also click that “…” tab by the units and factor in mortal wounds, bonus damage, rerolls, etc.
Then, you’ll get to pick what kind of save the target unit has. From the graph, you can compare the damage output between the two units. In this example, it’s Skeletons and Zombies.
If you scroll down the page a bit more, you’ll be able to see how much the two units miss, their consistency, etc. Keep in mind it’s not so much comparing two units going against one another. It’s really a way to see which unit you get the most value from. Think of the age-old question for the Gloomspite Gitz… “Do I Take Stabbas or RockgutS?” This tool will help you find out what’s best!
Finally, the bottom of the page gives you a chart of the damage output for your units against all enemies’ save profiles across the board. Obviously, the worse the save, the more the damage. However, it also gives you the percentage for wounds with each value, which is nice.
The tool is completely FREE. So, if you’re stuck trying to decide which unit in your faction you should be taking, put them up to the test against each other on this app and see who wins!
Which units have you put to the test? Has the app helped you pick the better option? Did your list get more competitive?
