For all of you traitorous followers out there, Jack of Clubs Painting has another great tutorial series on painting Black Legion Space Marines to be tabletop ready.
Worshipers of Chaos rejoice! Jack of Clubs Painting is bringing you another tutorial hot off the heels of the Las Vegas Open. Using one of the brand new Chaos Space Marine models from Blackstone Fortress, Jack is eager to get this Heretic painted up in Black Legion colors to a tabletop standard of painting.
This is the first video in a multi-part series that starts off by showing you how to get your Chaos miniatures to a tabletop standard and finishing off with a tournament standard with masterclass finishing touches.
Starting off with a black primer we form a base for our Black Legion armor and fully cover the model before moving on to more paints. After the black base coat, Necromancer Cloak from Army Painter is used as a top-down highlight for the black. Be careful that the grey highlight doesn’t overpower the black. Dark Warm Grey is next to highlight the horns, shoulder pads, and other details on this model. Pop the detail out, but don’t go crazy.
In the next step, use Burnt Red to paint the cloth hanging off of his armor. Use multiple thin coats to make sure the cloth has a nice smooth appearance. Next, glaze the cloth with Carmine Red from Vallejo, dabbing all of your paint off on a paper towel to achieve this super thin highlight.
Use your airbrush with air only to help dry out your glazes. Pull the super thin and watery pigment to the bottom of the cloak to add an extra highlight. After finishing up the cloaks, browns, and metallics are used to paint the joints in the armor and on his equipment.
As a final step, the Army Painter wash system is used to wash the entire model.
