Quebec City Open III top 8

1st Place: Éric Marcoux – Chaos Knights Army Lists

At the Quebec City Open, Éric’s Chaos Knights stomped their way to victory with an army list that combined overwhelming firepower, terrifying melee prowess, and just enough daemonic flair to make it all feel sinisterly stylish. With an army composed almost entirely of War Dogs—each as deadly as the last—Éric’s list turned the battlefield into a grim symphony of destruction. Let’s take a closer look at how this mechanized monstrosity won the day.

At the helm of the list was a War Dog Stalker, a versatile model that offered a strong mix of firepower and the ability to snipe out lone operatives. In a faction built around the art of carnage, the Stalker acted as a tactician of terror, ensuring that no hiding spot was safe for the enemy. Whether laying down volleys of shots or hunting down isolated targets, the Stalker was a key player in Éric’s strategy.

Backing up the Stalker were five War Dog Brigands, which brought a more specialized approach to ranged combat. These knights are all about focusing fire on the closest enemies, and their loadout maximized the sheer volume of shots they could put out. Brigands are like the artillery corps of the Chaos Knights—except instead of traditional shells, they fire daemonic rounds that shred anything unlucky enough to be within range.

No Chaos Knights list would be complete without some brutal melee options, and Éric’s list delivered with six War Dog Karnivores. These hulking beasts brought a mixed loadout of ranged and melee weapons, making them versatile enough to engage at a distance or rip through foes up close. Their ability to switch seamlessly between shooting and melee meant that Éric always had a tool for the job, no matter the situation.

To round out the list, Éric included a single Blue Horror unit and an Exalted Flamer. These smaller daemonic allies might seem like an odd addition to a Chaos Knights army, but they served a vital role: holding objectives and clearing chaff. The Blue Horrors added a few extra bodies to help contest the board, while the Exalted Flamer brought just enough firepower to keep pesky infantry units in check.

Together, they added a surprising layer of utility to an otherwise heavily mechanized force.

Éric’s list wasn’t just about overwhelming power—it was about calculated devastation. The Stalker and Brigands provided precise ranged support, the Karnivores tore through anything brave enough to get close, and the daemonic allies ensured the army could play the mission as well as it played the battlefield. By focusing on mobility, versatility, and sheer destructive potential, Éric’s Chaos Knights excelled at both removing enemy threats and securing key objectives.

These top army lists from The Quebec City Open III are a reminder that the Chaos Knights can win if built with every unit having a purpose and every move is part of a grand strategy. With a little bit of finesse, they can hold their own against even the deadliest Genestealer Cults and Astra Militarum army lists.

The performance of these armies serves as a testament to the ever-evolving nature of the competitive Warhammer 40k meta. Studying these winning army lists for their tactical synergies provides valuable insights for honing your strategic approach.
