The Decurion Detachment presents an all new way to build a Necron army. Before, we looked at each unit individually, now it s time to look at how they work together and build an army.

The Core of the Decurion is the Reclamation Legion. How you use your reclamation Legion will determine what kind of army you have. Do you want to minimize it in order to take more units elswhere? Do you want to Mech up? Do you want to go flyer heavy? do you want to build a phalanx? All of these questions must be considered as you build your Reclamation Legion.

Building an army with the Decurion is like building an army out of blocks. You have a bunch of different sized blocks that you must make fit together to form the army. Because of this, you have more fixed cost then when using a CAD, but you still have a lot of flexibility. Lets say that you want to build a Mechanized Army. This needs the right choices in the Reclamation Legion. For example:

Decurion Detachment 1850

Reclamation Legion
Catacomb Command Barge, Nightmare Shroud, Warscythe, Phase Shifter, Ressurection Orb, Phylactery, Mindshakle scarabs
10 Immortals, Nightscythe
10 Warriors, Ghost Arc
10 Warriors, Ghost Arc
3 Tomb Blades, Shieldvanes
3 Tomb Blades, Shieldvanes

Annihilation Nexus
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge
Doomsday Ark

Annihilation Nexus
Annihilation Barge
Annihilation Barge
Doomsday Ark

That’s nine AV13 Vehicles that ignore crew stunned and crew shaken results!

A very similar Core can also be used to make a pure foot army:

Reclamation Legion

Overlord, Warscythe, Veil of Darkness, Resurrection Orb, phase shifter
10 Immortals,
10 Warriors
10 Warriors
3 Tomb Blades,, shieldvanes
3 Tomb Blades, Shieldvanes

Destroyer cult

5 Destroyers
5 Destroyers
5 Destroyers
2 Heavy Destroyers

Destroyer lord, Voidreaper, phase shifter

10 flayed Ones
10 flayed Ones

In both Lists, the reclamation legion units stayed very similar. regardless of the upgrades given to the units, the following is a great place to start with the Reclamation Legion:

Reclamation Legion

Overlord that is good in assault

10 immortals

10 warriors

10 warriors

3-5 Tomb Blades

3-5 Tomb Blades

This core gives you lots of options but still gives you a set of units that all contribute to the game. This is just the tip of the iceberg when making lists with the Decurion, expect much more to come!
