Designed by Matt Leacock, Pandemic is a cooperative game for 2-4 players. Definitely one of the more difficult games in the cooperative genre. Things can go well for a while and then boom, disaster strikes. It makes for a tense, yet satisfyingly challenging experience.

Thankfully, it’s not an impossible level game, wins and losses are pretty even I’d say.

Pandemic

The overall gameplay remains the same. Work together to prevent outbreaks, discover cures for the four different diseases, and save the world! Players will collect city cards matching the disease colors, a set of five turned in at a research station cures it. You can treat diseases to quell outbreaks and use events to give your team an edge and help you stay in the game.

Pandemic

The special edition has an amazing production value. The game box itself looks just like a first aid kit and can even be mounted on the wall. Instead of player pawns, there are sculptured miniatures for each character. There are fully painted miniatures that were a preorder bonus. Some FLGSs may give these away with a purchase so look out for that.

Pandemic

The various markers and disease cubes are wooden, just as they were in the very first printing. Later versions changed everything to plastic. The disease cubes each have a cool Petri dish for storage. The gameboard has a very classic vintage art style as do the cards. There is also a very beautiful UV spot printing on the board highlighting important areas such as cities.

Pandemic

This collectors version of Pandemic is phenomenal. I weighed the value of getting yet another version of Pandemic and almost passed. While not really necessary for owners of the regular edition, it is an amazing collector’s piece. If you don’t already own the original, then I’d definitely say this version is the one to get, hands down.

The overall table presentation is just superb and looks fantastic. I’ve gotten a really good response from players who’ve played the original as well as those who have never played before.

Pandemic

As far as fancy collectors editions of games go, this is one of the coolest. If you are able to track one down and are a fan of Pandemic I’d say look into this version for sure.
