The truth is out there…but can we get our fellow FBI agents and directors to believe it? Now is the time to practice our storytelling abilities with the upcoming X-Files: Conspiracy Theory game.

IDW Games is teaming up with 20th Century Fox to release a new X-Files storytelling game in March. X-Files: Conspiracy Theory is the second release from IDW Games in their Everything is Connected series (the first being DIrk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency) and will be released alongside the show’s 25th anniversary.

x files gamesOne of the longest-running science fiction series in network TV history, FBI special agents investigate unexplained and mind-bending cases known as “X-Files.” This story telling, social party game with light deduction puts players in the role to creating plausible theories using evidence at the scene to convince the other players of their case.

The X-Files: Conspiracy Theory game has two game modes. In the first game mode, players take turns working as Agent Mulder and the FBI Directors, with each player getting the ability in the roles, and telling theories about the evidence presented to them for different paranormal events. The goal is to get other players to believe your theories, based on the evidence from different crime scenes. The second mode involves Jose Chung, from the episode “From Outer Space”, where players are witnesses and Jose Chung respectively, creating a narrative to tie stories together.

IDW Games previously released The X-Files: Board Game, as well as the expansion of it X-Files: Trust No One. While the board game is difficult to find currently, the expansion is still available from IDW. The board game focused on the first three seasons of the show and was a co-op 3 v 1 game, pitting the Agents versus the Syndicate.

X-Files: Conspiracy Theory will be available in March of 2018. The game is set up for 3-8 players, ages 16+, and is supposed to play in 20 – 60 minutes.
