Games Workshop promised us way back in FEB that Talisman is coming this home this Christmas! Now it looks like it may be even sooner for this fan favorite.
Christmas cannot come fast enough as Talisman, the Magical Quest Game will be available in bookstores and hobby shops worldwide. No idea yet as to pricing and what will be included in the initial release but it has been confirmed that the core board game will be released alongside six new expansions with new enemies to fight, lands to explore, and new powers to unlock. You will be able to delve into the depths of The City or dare to enter the Lair of The Dragon as you write your own story.
A quick check of Games Workshop’s site shows the new Talisman has it’s own section, but we could not locate a price for any of the items:
Available in independent book and games stores from November 2017.
Along with the core game, there are sections for all six of the expansions mentioned above:
- Dragon
- City
- Woodland
- Reaper
- Blood Moon
- Harbinger
For those unfamiliar with Talisman, it is a fantasy board game that pits 2-6 players against one another in an epic quest for the Crown of Command.
Their quests will take them through strange lands and magical realms in pursuit of knowledge, power, and a talisman of their own. There are hundreds of adventures and a large range of expansions so ensure that no two journeys through the lands of Talisman will alike. Adventurers will write their own story and will hopefully be strong enough to pass through the Portal of Power.
For those that cannot wait and want to dive into to Talisman now, there are digital versions available and both can be found on Steam. One is the Talisman: Digital Edition by Nomad Games that available on PC, PS4, Vita, and Android. The core game retails for $7.99 and all expansions and character expansion retail from $1.99 – $6.99.
The other option is available as a workshop add-on through Tabletop Simulator for free. The add-on contains the core game and 16 expansions. Tabletop Simulator retails for $19.99 and all Workshop add-ons are free.
Hopefully this announcement has built some hype for you board-gamers out there. Let us know in the comments below what you hope the price of the core board game will be and if you’ll be game this holiday season!
