The 40k meta continues to change as Chaos Knights have appeared on the scene. These are the top Warhammer army lists that crushed the 2019 Slaughterfest GT
The Slaughterfest 2019 had a whole slew of armies from every faction come under one roof to roll some dice. Some tables were even live-streamed. But looking at the lists that took the cake over the weekend, here are the top armies that managed to come out on top.
Veteran Gamer Reenlisted podcast & Enigma Hobbies brought the realness with Slaughterfest this year. Thanks to Best Coast Pairings, we can look back at the event details as if we were there ourselves.
3rd Place: Jeff Poole- Orks
Jeff ran with the classic Evil Sunz Boy spam package for his first detachment that was led by an index Big Mek and Warboss. These guys are just a bit faster than all the other Orks which helps them get down the board without relying on Da Jump for everything.
Beyond that, Gretchin linked arms to protect some Bad Moons Tankbustas and a Deathskulls Battalion full of Gretchin was taken for the CP. However, the Deathskulls rolled out three Big Meks with one having the Souped-up Shokka as his relic from the Dread Waaagh! formation.
Overall, this is a classic list we’ve seen time and time again and has proven itself in the meta.
2nd Place: Brandon Grant- Imperial Guard
Shaking things up from the mundane Guard lists out there, this first detachment loaded Catachans into Chimeras and drove them down the field with heavy flamers. More Catachan troops were taken in a second Battalion to act as S4 screens and protected the two tank commanders.
Finally, a third Battalion was brought along with a Bullgryn death squad making up the melee aspect of the list. Plus, this detachment ran just the right components for the Vigilus formation, Emperor’s Wrath Artillery Company.
Overall, this list had three main heavy hitters. The first, Chimeras with flamers, the second, the Bullgryn beatdown squad, and the third, mixed fire support from Tank Commanders and Wyverns.
To add even more annoyance to the list, 2CP were spent for Operative Requisition Sanctioned unlocking any Assassin needed for each game.
1st Place: Richard Cozart- Chaos Marines
Cherry-picking all of the best Chaos units and throwing them into a mixed detachment, this player used Ahriman and a Daemon Prince to lead a squad of Bikes, a Foul Blightspawn (which is the dude with the absurd flamer), some Tzaangors and Cultists.
Switching things up from the normal Daemon package, this player took a Battalion of Slaanesh. Daemonettes acted as a faster buffer for the Contorted Epitome and other key units. And of course, the melee unit of the army was none other than the three walking blenders, the Lord Discordants in a Supreme Command Detachment.
There’s a theme between all of these lists we’ve just covered. They all have multiple threats that are able to come one after the other forcing you to react to them. This list used the same idea with Chaos and Daemons, however, switched up the units normally used. Overall, awesome job coming in 1st place and showing us that Daemonettes also have a place in the meta.
