Don’t misunderstand. I love games and love to hobby but I don’t find myself playing that often. Maybe I’m just picky about who I play with. Maybe I just don’t have the desire to argue over toy soldiers. Despite all that, I find that I really want to play some Dropzone Commander.
and read the rules.
It was a Friday night. There were probably 40+ people were playing in FNM. Another dozen or so were playing 40k or board games. Yet with all the noise and distractions I was just sucked into the rulebook.
Why? It’s a game where so many small things in the rules simply make sense. Wait! What? I can shoot and move or move and shoot? Awesome. I don’t have to shoot the machine gun at a tank because the main railgun is? Damn that makes sense. Even some mundane details like army composition make sense.
We went months before a decent restock. Despite my best effort, people were interested but weren’t playing because there was simply nothing to buy. My interest waned but I can safely say it’s back and stronger than ever.
My UCM are rearing to go and I even picked up a Scourge starter to help run some demos. With the release of the battlefield in a box, there is now affordable terrain to boot.
