Forge World just put up the new Acastus-Class Knight Asterius on pre-order for June 14th! Check out what it’ll cost as well as its rules for Horus Heresy!
Forge World might not have a lot on their list of pre-orders this week, but they’ve got a heavy hitter (literally). Take a closer look at the Knight Asterius.
This model is up for pre-order now and will ship on June 14th, 2019. probably in anticipation for Apocalypse fever the following week.
Acastus-Class Knight Asterius $510
The Asterius is the Porphyrion’s brother. Where the Porphyrion has four massive cannons, the Acastus has two twin-linked conversion beamers that dump massive blasts on the field.
Acastus Knights were already rare in the age of the Horus Heresy, and Asterius patterns were even more scarce than Porphyrions. Like its counterpart, they were amongst the most massive and formidable engines of destruction available to Knight Houses. These mighty behemoths were armed to raze the mightiest edifices with conversion beam cannons – even the secondary weapons were deadly in their own right. The carapace hid a massive Karacnos mortar battery, capable of saturating the ramparts with high-impact explosives, as well as two volkite culverins to demolish targets of priority.
in case you missed our earlier details on the Asterius, we’ve got some of its stats right here for you. At $510, he’s got a hefty price tag but he also is able to decimate unprepared lists.
Waiting on more models to hit store shelves? You won’t want to miss these bold rumors what may be next, release-wise, for June and July from Games Workshop!
Knight Asterius Stats & Details
An 8HP front armor 14 behemoth is exactly the type of unit we’d expect to see the Imperium roll out of its factories. Because nothing says “Mankind is the best” quite like a multi-ton Walker with massive laser arms. Plus, he’s sitting at 540 points. Compared to other Knights that seems a pretty solid unit for the cost.
Looking at the weapons, in short, he’s going to be a power armor nightmare. Turns out, there’s a lot of that in 30k as well. At his strongest range, he’ll be lobbing two AP 1 Massive Blasts downrange ( so get out your old Apocalypse templates)! On the bright side, his weapons get a bit more reasonable the closer you get. Although, any shot from this is going straight through normal power armor. The best way to handle this guy is to perhaps bring some ridiculous firepower of your own and strike him early on.
If you’re bringing this guy, the 7″ Str 10 blast might be tempting to throw onto a massive squad of Marines. However, there’s probably some enemy armor that should be dealt with. Don’t worry though, the Karacnos Mortar Battery fits the bill for ruining Infantry’s day. These mortars get a heavy 3 barrage with all the rules that say “please shoot me towards the infantry unit you need wiped off the table”.
This Knight might cost a few shiny pennies, but with stats like this, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to find a spot for him somewhere in your list.
