Norn Emissary

The Hive Mind is usually content to direct its swarms from afar, but when a more personal touch is needed, the Norn Emissary is deployed to act as its eyes, ears, and claws on the battlefield. These towering monstrosities are spawned for a single specific purpose, and pack epic levels of speed, strength, and raw psionic power into a single deadly package.

Norn Emissary 2

This multipart plastic kit builds a Norn Emissary, a psychic monster tailored to overcome all resistance. Stood atop a ruined structure covered in Tyranid growths, the Emissary shreds all opposition with massive scything talons and cruel, dextrous claws, its visible brain tissue suffused with unnatural power. The Norn Emissary stands amongst the larger creatures in the Tyranids range, towering above even a Hive Tyrant – it’s an excellent centrepiece model, loaded with alien detail to show off your painting skills. The kit also includes two different lower torsos, allowing you to pose your Emissary surveying the battlefield or leering down at its prey.

This miniature can alternatively be built as a Norn Assimilator, a single-minded Tyranid monster with toxic bone harpoons.

This kit comprises 58 plastic components and comes with a Citadel 100mm Round Base. This miniature is supplied unpainted and requires assembly

New Tyranids Genestealers Miniatures for 10th Edition Warhammer 40k

Straight from Warhammer Community, here’s the latest on the new Tyranids Genestealers miniatures!

With the Tyranids winning Oghram, they have reinforcements on the way – the first being a brand new Genestealers kit!

tyranid new genestealer vid

tyranid genestealers

These creatures range out in advance of the Tyranid hive fleet, inhabiting great Space Hulks that drift through space, which will inevitably attract the attention of greedy salvagers over time. They secrete themselves on the scrap haulers and exploratory vessels that return to populated worlds, where they bed in undercover and spread their malign influence.

This results in a Genestealer Cult, hoodwinked by the synaptic power of the Genestealer into believing that the hive fleet is a god sent to unshackle them from their drudgery.

As one of the oldest Tyranids, new Genestealers are an excellent choice for fans to pick up, especially when they look this good!

genestealer details

This dynamic new kit refines the classic design, adding heavier carapace plates, and a sense of terrifying motion through a range of new poses. There are even enough betentacled Ymgarl heads included to outfit the whole unit, a nod to the mysterious variant first encountered on the moons of Ymgarl.

If you love the deep sea influence on some of the miniatures, then the inclusion of a new Tentacled Ymgarl face might be exciting for you!

New Tyranids Termagants & Hormagaunts For

Straight from Warhammer Community, here’s the latest on the new redesigned Termagants and Hormagaunts miniatures!

new gaunt video

new gaunt video 2

We’ve already seen new push-fit Termagants, as well as specialised Barbgaunts and Neurogaunts included with the Warhammer 40,000: Leviathan box, but now Termagants and Hormagaunts are receiving brand new sets of their own.

new hormagaunts

Termagants are the closest thing the Tyranids have to a line trooper, though not much in the hive fleet maps accurately onto the military structure of the rest of the armies in the 41t Millennium.

While they may be chaff, a giant swarm of 40 will still do tons of damage crashing into enemy lines. With a new kit and huge numbers, the impact of this update will be seen a lot.

new termagaunts

They fight in great hordes armed with symbiotic bio-weapons, each a horrendous amalgam of organic function and living weapon. The full Termagant kit includes a wide range of weapons – fleshborerers, spinefists, devourers, shardlaunchers, stranglewebs, and spike rifles. Now that’s a wargear selection we haven’t seen for many, many years.

The introduction of new special weapons makes the Termagants even better than before, will more flexibility! Not to mention some awesome new models with dope weapons.

Tyranids Introduce 3 Game-Changing Lictor Variants for 10th Edition 40k

Straight from Warhammer Community, here’s the latest on the three new Lictor variants including the Deathleaper and Neurolictor for Warhammer 40k 10th Edition.

new lictor video

Tyranids Lictor

lictor

Larger than the Von Ryan’s Leapers, Lictors have been a mainstay of the Tyranid forces since their introduction into Warhammer 40,000. They are agile hunters with chameleonic skin, and two huge crescent talons attached to powerful arms that can effortlessly split a Space Marine in two, no problem.

lictor video 1

When they’ve slayed their foe, they use their writhing feeder tendrils to suck out their brain matter, somehow ingesting the knowledge held by their foes which they impart to the Hive Mind.

With lore as cool as slurping up brain juice, a new model was certainly in order, and it looks great. In-game it is said to have precision strike, re-rolls, and a Command Point gaining ability if you kill a character!

lictor details

The red color scheme makes all the details pop and increase the dark aura around what these monsters are capable of.

Tyranids Neurolictor

neurolictor

The Hive Mind has not rested on its sinewy laurels since creating the perfect assassin however. Carefully orchestrated evolution has created a new strain of Lictor, a psychological horror whose highly developed neural organs emit a wave of psychic dread that causes even the most iron-willed warriors to experience an atavistic terror response.

neurolictor details

These psychic abilities grant them the ability to mask their presence by confounding their enemy’s senses, rendering them hapless when the main Tyranid force arrives to finish the job.

On the more psychic side of things, the Neurolictor brings even more psychic support to an already teeming suite of supportive characters for Tyranid players!

neurolictor details

And of course, if the new model and rules themselves weren’t exciting enough, the model is fantastic to boot!

Deathleaper

The apex of the Lictor bioform is the Deathleaper, a rare evolution that has stalked battlefields for decades now like some chitinous spectre. It’s even evolved to get a cool flesh cape, striking an even more fearsome figure than ever before.

While all of these creatures can find a home in the standard Invasion Force Detachment, they excel in the Vanguard Assault Detachment – one of the new Detachments you can look forward to in Codex: Tyranids.

Deathleaper

Focused on sowing terror within enemy ranks before blindsiding them with lighting-fast flanking assaults, this Detachment allows Deathleaper to take up the role of Warlord, using goading imperatives to coordinate its allies in lethal assaults.

Lastly, there’s a new HQ-esque Deathleaper, with an amazing design thanks to that flowing camo trenchcoat aesthetic. A new Detachment with it at the head is sure to make some heads roll.

Unstoppable Xenos Threat: Tyranids Norn Emissary & Assimilator

Straight from Warhammer Community, here’s the latest on the new huge Norn Emissary and Assimilator monsters for 10th Edition.

Amongst the teeming multitude of ravenous horrors that make up the Tyranid Hive Fleets, there are a few towering beasts that stride above the swarm – the will of the Hive Mind made manifest in an abhorrent behemoth.

norn video

The latest of these are the Norn Emissary and the Norn Assimilator, creatures spawned when the Hive Mind has a crucial goal it simply must accomplish.

norn assimilator 1

The Norn Emissary is perhaps the ultimate synapse creature, bigger and nastier than even a Hive Tyrant. They are evolved for the singular purpose of preying on gifted commanders or abducting knowledgeable prey from heavily defended strongholds.

Before battle, the Norn Queen imbues this goliath with the distilled knowledge it needs to succeed in its mission, which it prosecutes with a combination of brute strength and incredible psionic power, backed up by a frankly unnatural degree of agility for a creature of its size.

Equal parts deadly to supportive, the psychic power of the Emissary is sure to run large with its size, and clear emphasis on the model’s design.

Norn Assimilator

norn assimilator 2

If the Norn Emissary is the brainy avatar of the Hive Fleet, the Norn Assimilator is its raw strength made flesh. When the Hive Fleet has decided that a particular prey-creature or fortification must be eliminated, it sends forth an inexhaustible Norn Assimilator.

In the face of such raw alien power, running is the only sensible decision. In its infinite alien wisdom, the Hive Mind has already thought this through, so the Norn Assimilator packs a pair of massive toxinjector harpoons to pinion its prey in place.

We can see all the brainy psychic bits replaced with more spines and carapaces, making for a more durable combat-focused machine! Plus, those chest harpoons are sure to mix things up.

norn assimilator details

With a tower model and tons of interchangeable parts, these two new Norn monsters are sure to be big hits, regardless of their rules on the tabletop.

norn assimilator size

We also got to see a size comparison to a Wraith Lord, and it’s quite a bit taller in reference! These are giant terrors rather than the typical small ones we see for Tyranids!

Horrors of the Hive: Meet the New Biovore & Pyrovore Models

Straight from Warhammer Community, here’s the latest on the re-designed Biovore and Pyrovore living artillery models for Tyrnaids in Warhammer 40k 10th Edition.

new biovore

Biovores are essentially sentient mortar batteries, each carrying a symbiotic launcher-organ swollen with a clutch of Spore Mines. These volatile offspring are fired across the battlefield in violent muscle spasms – truly, the miracle of birth.

new pyrovore vid

The Biovore’s new, wider form allows it to operate as an efficient firing platform, digging chitin-barbed legs deep into the ground to absorb the shuddering recoil of its weapon. These tentacled orbs instinctively float towards prey like malicious alien balloons, before bursting and showering their targets with bone shards, toxic gas, and corrosive fluids.

This chonky new Biovore revises a classic kit and looks fantastic! There aren’t too many popular Tyranids ranged units, but firing without line of sight was a primary reason to use in the past, and we’re to see more of that!

new pyrovore

The Pyrovore, on the other hand, is a creature designed to help its hive fleet predigest the toughest minerals and biomass – like a mother bird chewing up worms for its chick, if the worms were ceramite-clad Space Marines.

new pyrovore vid 2

The beast’s network of stomachs gurgles with bio-chemical nastiness, which drools from its acidic maw and erupts from its dorsal symbiote as caustic jets of flammable gas. A Pyrovore can engulf entire squads in chemical fire, melting armour and flesh ahead of consumption. Disgusting, but effective – the Hive Mind clearly hasn’t found time to evolve its table manners.

On the other side, Pyrovores are the same model, but instead of longer-range shots, it aims for a scorched earth approach making quick work of chaff!

47 New Tyranids Previewed For 10th Edition Leviathan Warhammer 40k Starter Set

Straight from WHC, we’ve got a full breakdown of all the new Tyranids that are coming inside the Leviathan Warhammer 40k Starter Set!

10th edition tyranids army

Screamer-Killer

Screamer-Killer

The Screamer-Killer has a long history, starting life as the original metal Carnifex miniature in 1992. Though one of many variants of Carnifex, it is infamous for its sheer size and the power of its bio-plasmic scream which can melt straight through a Space Marine in seconds (as you may have seen in the cinematic trailer). Its four huge arms ending in brutal talons make it an absolute menace in close combat – the perfect counter to those hard-as-nails Terminators.

Screamer-Killer rules

With a great model reviving an old favorite, these rules seem to back up the idea that this is going to be a menace in melee! They also said in the stream that he would NOT be replacing the current Carnifex model, they will both still exist in the rules, and lore.

Plus who doesn’t love a throwback to good old Second Edition Warhammer 40k?

47 New Tyranids Previewed For 10th Edition Leviathan Warhammer 40k Starter Set carnifex screamer killer

Neurotyrant

Neurotyrant

The Neurotyrant is a support-focused creature. It hovers across terrain much like a Zoanthrope, though unlike their smaller cousins they sport a multitude of thrashing tendrils to whip at anything within reach. Its giant brain exists to focus the mental powers of the Tyranids, increasing the psychic pressure exerted by the Shadow in the Warp while simultaneously relaying the critical synapse network to less developed creatures.

Neurotyrant video

Not only will this massive psyker cause some rifts but it’s even got two little buddies to assist with its psychic channeling.

Oh, and we got another throwback to the second edition, with a similar design to the Zoanthrope of that era.

neurotyrant throwback second edition warhammer 40k tenth zoanthrope

Neurogaunts

Neurogaunts

Neurogaunts serve as crucial relays for the synapse network and bodyguards for those that would focus it. Larger nodebeasts can be distinguished by the bulbous growth on their backs, while the smaller gaunts chitter around it with sharp claws and teeth.

Neurogaunts video

Following up the big psyker is one of its many potential minions and protectors; these were described as essentially worthless when not linked, so expect some linking-style synergy here!

Winged Tyranid Prime

Winged Tyranid Prime

The Tyranid Prime is an evolved version of the Tyranid Warrior bioform usually found leading their brethren on foot, but this winged variant can take to the skies to carry its razor-sharp claws and synapse ability far and wide. This is the first time a Tyranid Prime has had a unique miniature as previous incarnations were built from the Tyranid Warriors kit.

captain vs nid

As an iconic Tyranid model, this new update is definitely massively welcomed by players!

Von Ryan’s Leapers

Von Ryan’s Leapers

Whoever this unfortunate Von Ryan was, he has a truly horrifying creature named after him. These Leapers take genetic elements from Hormagaunts and Lictors, combining their best qualities to create a deadly melee threat. Von Ryan’s Leapers move exceedingly fast thanks to their balancing tails, and their smaller size makes them especially good ambush predators.

Von Ryan’s are some dope models we’ve seen before, but still, don’t forget as they are in this box!

Termagants

New tyranids 3

You can’t beat a classic, and we’ve seen plenty of the Termagants already. You get a pile of them in the Leviathan box – 20 in total – and they still come with those adorable Ripper Swarms we all know and love.

Just like the Leapers, we saw these before, but they are in this new box, so keep them in your mind!

Barbgaunts

Barbgaunts

Barbgaunts are a Tyranid artillery-organism, working closer to the front line than Hive Guard and Biovores. The bio-cannons on their backs are actually bonded with the same parasitic organism that has enslaved the rest of the gaunt to its will, merging body and weapon into a single lethal entity.

As a new ranged option for Tyranids that is more short-ranged and “frag-like,” this is exciting! At the very least, it’s a fantastic new mini to hobby on.

Psychophage

Psychophage

The massive Psychophage is an organic furnace that gobbles up enemies and turns their essence into a raging psychoclastic torrent. Their favourite food is psykers, and the mass of whipping tentacles around their gaping maw can strip the mind from the warp-inclined before they can lift their magic book/staff/orb in defence. This creature’s massive bulk and terrifying fanged maw harks back to the Haruspex, but the Psychophage has a much more selective diet in mind.

Psychophage

As the final big model for Tyranids in the box, this might be the flashiest! With some insane detail and a giant body, this will always be a sight to behold on the tabletop.
