GW’s latest Warhammer rumor engine preview reveals a spear, but what faction will it be for, maybe Necrons, Aelves, or Alpharius?
Here’s the latest Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. As usual, there are some interesting possibilities for what it could be! Whatever the case, we can’t wait to see what Games Workshop has in store when it’s finally revealed. Let’s check out what it could be and try to guess until then!
Looks like the Games Workshop vault has gone into lockdown, and the Advent Engine preview this December has been thrown out the window! So, it’s back to our regular weekly previews—because who needs a holiday surprise when we’re getting 24 new 40k 10th Edition rules detachments instead
Rumor Engine: November 19th, 2024
This engine can only really be a spear or a staff at an odd orientation, but the sharp edge definitely makes us lean heavily towards spears, and while Eldar and Aelves are possible, the clearest choice seems to be Necrons! But it is giving off some Alpha Legion vibes as well.
Is this rumor engine the “Pale Spear” for a new Primarch Alpharius that would be the third new model in the revamped Forge World character series (after Horus and Fulgrim’s) that they said would represent the primarchs at the height of the heresy? There are some similarities between the rumor engine weapon and the existing model’s above.
It could also be Soloman Akurra, who ended up with the Pale Spear’s blades (but not the shaft) in the Black Library Harrowmaster book. Rumor is that Alpharius’s Pale Spear dates back to before the first Aeldari appeared, and the Necrons have a similar weapon called the Hyperphase Blade.
Speaking of Necrons, they have a few older models that could go for a pick-me-up or even a brand-new guard or royalty-style model! However, the bit looks bone-like, which would be interesting for a new Necron… Still, though… who knows? Curve balls happen, and specialist games usually get some super unique models. We will have to wait and see!
