GW Gives its Star Wars-Looking Sentinel Free Rules

hermes sentinel at rt star warsGW gave out free rules for the Hermes Sentinels, their new Star Wars-looking walkers, as pop culture keeps creeping into designs from the 30th and 40th millenniums.

We’ll check out the rules first and then make some comparisons to see how close the two match up; that way, you can decide who would win in a fight since we all love to decide which IP is really the strongest!

GW Gives its Star Wars-Looking Sentinels Free Rules

Here is the latest on the free Hermes Sentinel rules from Warhammer Community.

Star Wars Looking Sentinels

Hermes Light Sentinels are exceptionally nimble and extremely hard to target. When they run, they gain Shrouded (5+), which lasts until the start of their controlling player’s next turn.

They are quite cheap in points (only 18 points for any extra over the first two), are super fast, and can get shrouded! While they aren’t going to blast away a titan, they are good for taking out smaller units, taking objectives, and just being annoying!

Some Cohorts deploy the more heavily armoured Incursus-pattern Hermes Sentinels in more aggressive formations. Slightly slower and with a 3+ Armour Save, these robust walkers are armed with volkite calivers and heavy flamers, powerful anti-infantry weaponry that suit the shock-and-awe warfare of the Veletaris Storm Sections.

These have better BS and WS, better save, and can be great for taking out enemies who get too close to your lines! They are a little slower but much better overall for dealing damage.

Let’s Compare Some Models

Hermes Sentinel 3

Hermes, meet the AT-RT. It’s been around since the Horus Heresy err, Clone Wars, even!

One could say that’s quite the resemblance! It’s like spotting your neighbor’s cat wearing a monocle and sipping tea – you can’t help but wonder where it picked up such refined tastes. But in this case, it’s not a feline fashion faux pas; it’s a walker war.

Those spindly legs bending like they’re auditioning for a yoga class, the exposed pilot risking a suntan through the front windshield, and don’t forget the gun sticking out like a nosy neighbor peeking over the fence – it’s a scene straight out of Star Wars.

And let’s talk about inspiration – Star Wars started it, and now everyone’s getting in on the action, well, at least Games workshop is. The Grimdark universe decided to give it a makeover, slapped on some extra armor, and called it a day. But hey, who’s keeping score?

It’s like finding out your favorite cereal brand has a long-lost cousin in another galaxy. Familiar, yet strangely alien.

Hermes Sentinel 4

But let’s not jump to conclusions. We’re not saying there’s been any grand theft spaceship here. It’s just a case of galactic déjà vu.

Maybe Games Workshop stumbled upon a holovid marathon of a certain sci-fi saga and thought, “Hey, that looks cool. Let’s give it a grimdark twist.”

Who knows? In the vast expanse of the universe, inspiration can come from anywhere—even a galaxy far, far away.

What do you think about the similarities between the two walkers? What about the rules?
