With the current events going on in the Horus Heresy, there is a good chance we might be seeing an Emperor model soon. Here’s why…
The Emperor is the Mac Daddy human in both 30k and 40k. However, he’s a lot better off in the Horus Heresy than 40k. (Being a bag of bones on a Golden Throne isn’t too grand of a life). Anywho, based on some of the current events and rules on characters, we feel like Big E could be getting a model soon.
1. The Legio Custodes Tribune
The Custodes are the literal Talons of the Emperor. Made from his own DNA, these are the super-super soldiers in the Horus Heresy. With their sole purpose being the Emperor’s palace guard, they hold a higher command than most. Check out this Legio Custodes Tribune rule.
Why would Forge World throw in “unless the Emperor of Mankind is also present” in the rule wording unless he would actually be getting a model? Sure, they could have just added that in to stress the level of authority these guys carry, but we can’t dismiss it just for that. We’ve also already seen models for Constantin Valdor and Jenetia Krole. The only one left out of the list is Big E…
2. Daemons Of the Ruinstorm Are Here
The Imperium really saw the first contact with Daemons well into the Horus Heresy timeline. And with past events like Dorn and Sanguinius getting their models (they were the ones that teleported to the Vengeful Spirit with Big E to fight Horus), we can begin to see what’s bound to come eventually.
3. Siege of Terra: Black Library’s Solar War Has Begun
The Siege of Terra is the final climax of the Heresy timeline. This is where Horus and Big E had one last moment of father-and-son time. The Warp-tainted Horus was CTRL ALT DELETED by Big E, but at a great cost. This is where Rogal Dorn showed up after being teleported on the other side of the Vengeful Spirit to find Sanguinius dead and the Emperor barely alive. He carried him to the Golden Throne which is where 40k’s story began (give or take a couple of thousand years).
What we’re getting at is that now, we are in a place between Daemons of the Ruinstorm and the final siege of Terra. Big E could show up at any point and we are hoping that if he does show up. it won’t be thirty minutes before he’s turned into the world’s most powerful skeleton.
All in all, we’ve still got some exciting times ahead for the Horus Heresy that we should keep our eyes peeled for. The Daemons of the Ruinstorm really spiced stuff up for players on the table as Daemons have never really been a major part of the game until now.
