Welcome back Hobby Fanatics, today we’ve got an awesome painting tutorial from OrcPainterNerd showing us how to do a graffiti covered Land Raider!
Today OrcPainterNerd (OPN) is going to take us through his process to make this amazing weathered and tagged Land Raider Redeemer!
First up is the pre-shade. Once the model is primed white, OPN hits all the crevices and panel lines with a some black paint from his airbrush. This black pre-shade will show through the main blue color and darken the blue in all the right places!
Once that pre-shade is complete, OPN puts down a layer of enchanted blue from Vallejo. This is a thin coat to ensure the pre-shade shows through. To accentuate the pre-shade OPN also adds a small amount of dark blue to his enchanted blue and adds some shadows to the model.
Once the shadows are in play its time to use some Vallejo gloss varnish to prepare the model for those awesome grafitti decals! The gloss varnish ensures a smooth surface for the decal to cling to as well as helping to hide the outline of the decal once the paint is dried.
To help the decal conform to the surface of the tank, Microsol setting and stretching solutions are applied to the target location on the hull and to the decal itself.
Once the Decals are set its time to breakout all the weathering tricks OrcPainterNerd has to offer!
