It’s happening!!! MLP, Transformers, and Gi Joe will be hitting tabletops soon as Wizkids announced a huge licensing deal with Hasbro for new miniatures.
Wizkids made an announcement on their site that they are going to have a busy year in 2019 and beyond. They will be producing a whole new line of G.I. Joe, Transformer, and My Little Pony figures. However, these aren’t just re-branded copies of old figures from back in the day. These are looking to be new sculpts entirely!
Wizkids 2019: Gi Joe, Transformers & MLP Models Announced
While WizKids maintains and manages their product lines, we can also look forward to seeing batches of figures from these three universes featured in 2019 as well.
WizKids, the industry leader in high quality pre-painted & unpainted miniatures and established board games, announced a new licensing partnership with Hasbro today with the addition of beloved properties G.I. Joe, My Little Pony and Transformers to WizKids’ extensive line of miniatures.
So with the big news out of the way, what can we expect to see first? Well, it would only make sense that their first line of minis would be of some main characters, right? We should keep our eyes peeled for Optimus Prime, Bumble Bee, Gung-Ho, Wild Bill, Rainbow Dash and a bunch more!
Fans can expect to see their favorite characters first appear later this year in both pre-painted and unpainted formats.
They’ll be giving us figures in an unpainted version so we can slap some custom paint jobs on the figures from our childhood! In the past, these have really all been prepainted and come a certain way.
“Much of the WizKids team has grown up with these cherished brands and are thrilled to be bringing them to life with the high definition sculpting processes that our customers have come to love,” said Justin Ziran, president of WizKids.
We can look for My Little Pony and Transformers models specifically later on in North America. When and where we will see G.I Joe figures emerge, we’re not exactly sure. However, it’s nice to see a big-time company bring back some of the figures that got us into the hobby world to start with!
