In Dragon Castle, you are rebuilding the crumbling Dragon’s Castle and placing them into your realm board in order to build your own new castle.

Anyone who’s ever played Mahjong Solitaire will understand the main mechanisms of this game right out of the gate. The main board contains the Dragon Castle which is configured into a standard setup shape. There’s a blank board on which you can set the Dragon Castle up in any configuration you wish. Plus, the rulebook has a ton of pre-made templates you can also set up for play.

The gameplay consists of three standard actions each player can take with a four becoming available once the Dragon Castle has been whittled down to a single floor. The main three actions involving a tile being “available”. This means any tile whose long edge is free is considered available.

The first action you can take is to claim two matching available tiles, these are tiles that have the exact same artwork on them not just color. Once you take the tiles you place them face up on your own realm board. The second action is to take one available tile and a castle roof or pagoda piece. The third action is to discard an available tile and claim one point.

Once you have at least four tiles on your realm board that connect orthogonally adjacent you flip them facedown and gain points based on how many you flip that turn. Then based on the rarity of the flipped tiles you may place one or two of your available roofs onto any of the flipped tiles which will net you points based on the tower’s height.

Another benefit to having your tiles flipped is you can then build on top of them in order to create higher towers. Once the Dragon Castle is down to a single floor you can take the fourth action which is to take one of the two-point dragon tokens once the ! Symbol is revealed the game ends once the player to the right of the first player has taken their final turn.

There is also a module which adds a spirit card and dragon cards. These add new actions you can take and opportunities for bonus points based on how you build your castle.
