40k Aeronautica Imperialis: Wrath of Angels Value & Pricing

aeronautia-Imperialis-value-worthThe new  40k Aeronautica Imperialis: Wrath of Angels box is the latest starter set for the game, but what’s it worth value wise?

The big starter releases for the boxed games from GW are often a decent value to get new players into the game or bring veteran players into new armies. This box is fairly cheap when it comes to starters, so there should be decent value inside.

The starter boxes are obviously created with new players in mind but when they have all-new models inside, they will have value for anyone.

Not going to lie, this had us going for a second! Dang… but it would still be cool to grab one even if you can’t use it in 40k! The new starter box will focus on the Space Marines and the Eldar and introduce a bunch of ships for both factions. They didn’t give the release date quite yet, but let’s take a closer look at the ships!

While this game may not be as popular as some of their other offerings, the minis are pretty cool. Let’s check out the value!

Space Marine Aircraft

Space Marine ShipsThey couldn’t have the whole faction just be Thunderhawks! So of course you’ll be able to grab some Interceptors for the new Space Marine faction in the game!

Storm EaglesThe Storm Eagles will be fairly strong from the sound of it but not have nearly the maneuverability of the Eldar ships.

Thunderhawk AI

Thunderhawk AISo close yet so far away! Even if you don’t play it would be fun to have one of these painted up on your desk or shelf.

They do mention it will be one of the highest cost and best ships in the game, so if you do play, this will be an easy pickup. we hope to see this shortly after the starter set drops!

The Eldar Aircraft

Eldar Ships AI

As you might expect, the Aeldari aircraft are sleek machines as befits their speed and maneuverability.

Eldar Ships AIBetween these and the dead Eldar on Lelith’s base, the faction is practically spoiled with new releases (sorry Eldar players, we had to do it…). They didn’t give much in the way of rules for these either, but we know they’ll be fast and probably outrange their Space Marine counterparts.

Aeronautica Imperialis: Wrath of Angels- What’s it worth?

wrath of angelsThis is the new Starter Set for the Aeronautica Imperialis system, containing everything you need to get those chocks away, including five Adeptus Astartes aircraft and six for the Aeldari, a 38-page rulebook, a scenario booklet, a double-sided area of engagement game mat, eight dice, 70 assorted tokens, and a transfer sheet.

It also comes with 11 new models, but you can also pick those up separately.

  • 3x Nightwings $21 ($42 for 6)
  • Phoenix Bomber Squad $42
  • 3x Xiphon Interceptor $21 ($42 for 6)
  • Storm Eagle Squadron $42
  • Rulebook and accessories $40 (rulebook not available separately)

Total MSRP: $166

Value: $76

Overall, this is really good value for the price. When the value almost matches what you pay, that’s a hard deal to find nowadays! So if you’ve been looking to get into the game, or already play, this might be an easy buy.

If you don’t play the game, well, maybe this will entice you to start.
