The latest new lineup of specialist releases is here including the next big Kill Team box and more that are on pre-order right now!
We’ve seen some of these models for quite some time, but they are finally ready for pre-order. Check out this week’s new pre-orders that are live right now!

Sister Sprues:
Tau Sprues:
Terrain Sprues:
This boxed set includes:
1x 96-page Kill Team: Chalnath Rules Manual: Expand your sphere of operation with background for the Vedik System, plus the Adepta Sororitas and T’au Empire forces fighting within. Alongside this narrative, you’ll find new rules, datacards, and background tables for both the Adepta Sororitas Novitiate and T’au Pathfinder Kill Teams, as well as a host of additional special rules and missions set in this war zone.
23x Citadel Miniatures: Two full kill teams comprised of an Adepta Sororitas Novitiate Squad and a T’au Pathfinder Squad. Each features a wide array of customisation and assembly options, allowing you to personalise your kill team, and many of the models can be assembled as multiple kinds of operatives. Both of the kill teams also come with a full transfer sheet, giving you a wide range of emblems for customising your models.
7x Terrain Pieces: Recreate the battle-scarred war zone with two large ruins and five damaged walls, representing the kind of terrain that kill team skirmishes are frequently fought across.
1x Double-sided Kill Team: Chalnath Gameboard: Engage in skirmishes on this double-sided cardboard gameboard that represents the blasted terrain of the Vedik System.
Just like some of the other recent big box releases, GW is trying to combat scalpers by using its Pre-order promise, which essentially makes the release a semi-MTO. That means if you place an order, you will get one (eventually).
40k Kill Team: Chalnath What’s it Worth?
- Tau Pathfinders $50 (the upgrade sprue brings the extra cost, but could go to $48)
- Novitiates kit $50 (based on the Repentia kit)
- Terrain $130 (based on the old Basilicanum Terrain- see above)
- Rules for the Minis inside should be added value i.e free
Total MSRP $230
Total Value $60
The value on this isn’t too high, but again it’s the one way to grab the new minis first. We were also hoping they wouldn’t raise the price on this from Pariah Nexus, but at least it was only $10. Still, we just want these starter sets to come with more value.
It’s also worth mentioning that the terrain sprues inside this box appear to be the same exact configuration of sprues from the 2018 Kill Team Starter Box release as well.
That featured the old Basilicanum terrain set with one extra sprue of ruins, and sans the statues sprue. Previously $100 retail in 2018, adjusted for 2021 pricing, but be aware this has not been available from GW for quite some time.
Should You Buy Kill Team: Chalnath?
The short answer is probably no, well unless you have to have those new minis for your Sisters or Tau.
It almost seems like Games Workshop is putting less of an emphasis on value, and more on early access and Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) for their larger box sets as of late.
However as we saw with Dominion, and the Black Templar Army box, interest in these paywall-type releases may be waning as hobbyists continue to vote with their hobby dollars about what’s important to them.

Citadel Painting Handle XL $18
Get Yours For Less From Dicehead Games
The Painting Handle XL has been expertly designed to work with a range of modular hobby tools to enhance your painting and modelling experience. The base slots securely into the Citadel Colour Assembly Stand to keep even the largest models secure while you work.
The flexible arms from the Assembly Stand also fit neatly into eight sockets located around the edges of the extra-large clip, allowing you to keep components in place while you build models. The same sockets are also sized to accommodate Sub-assembly Holders, so you can keep your colours consistent even when painting large, complicated projects.
Citadel Colour Assembly Stand $27
Get Yours For Less From Dicehead Games
This assembly base is compatible with the newer, ergonomic design of the Citadel Colour Painting Handle, and the older decagonal handle will not fit in the central holder.
While you can find matching sockets on the updated Citadel Colour Spray Stick, continued use of canned sprays can degrade the rubber on the assembly arms, so we don’t recommend using them during your priming sessions.
Citadel Colour Sub-assembly Holder $12.50
Get Yours For Less From Dicehead Games
The Citadel Colour Sub-assembly Holder kit has been expertly designed to work with a range of modular hobby tools to enhance your painting and modelling experience. It’s the lynchpin of a sub-assembly painting process, as the Part Holders fit neatly into the circular sockets found on the Citadel Colour Spray Stick, Painting Handle XL, and Assembly Stand. This allows you to keep a consistent colour and finish when painting components separately from the rest of the model, and it also gives you the tools you need to manage and organise sprawling, complicated projects.
It’s the solution you never knew you needed.
Citadel Colour Spray Stick $23
Get Yours For Less From Dicehead Games
It’s been expertly designed to work with the new range of modular hobby tools to enhance your painting and modelling experience. The circular sockets at the ends of each arm are perfectly sized to accommodate Sub-assembly Holders, allowing you to spray those fiddly bits right alongside the rest of the model for consistent finish and coverage. You’ll find an extra set of sturdy elastic bands in the package, which will last for many a happy project.
