With the Dark Angels getting a new release, we wanted to take a look back at one really cool Dark Angels army from a past event.
Atomic Empire was a pre-qualifier event for a later tournament called Warzone Atlanta (when tournaments were actually running with regularity…). With so many people competing for a spot in the next tournament, we saw some amazing lists. Hopefully, we’ll see tournaments return before too long and we’ll get even more fun lists! Here are some Dark Angels that brought all the Primaris firepower.
This army comes to us from Chris Genest
A Great Dark Angels Army from a Past Atomic Empire Event!
Looking a this Dark Angels army, it looks like they had no problem welcoming in the new Primaris support for Guilliman. With so many new units on a Savannah/flatland display, Lt. Brother Veritas had a lot to be in charge of.
A massive squad of Aggressors armed with boltstorm gauntlets hit the field ready to shred through enemy screens. Even though their range is on the shorter side, if anything tries to uproot them, they’re in for a rude double-shooting awakening.
Check out the highlights and camo cloaks on this squad of Eliminators. Even their guns have a beautiful red edging effect. It’s easy to see just how much hobby love went into three T4 models alone.
It’s not Primaris, but the Ravenwing Darkshroud is just too good of protection to pass up. Not to mention the great job on the lighting effects!
As for the minds behind the operation, a whole handful of new Primaris hit the field. From a banner to a Lieutenant, Apothecary, and even Phobos Librarian. This force had plenty of force multipliers to back them up. Plus, that desert camo cloak is insanely realistic.
Of course. a mainstay in almost any Primaris force these days is a Repulsor. While it’s an expensive transport, it’s still got a decent amount of firepower. Plus, when it looks that good there’s no reason not to take it.
And finally, being a Dark Angels army, where would it be without a helping of plasma? These guys had every edge covered with a bright green trim that makes them pop. The best part about Dark Angels’ plasma, however, is that they don’t need a Captain to babysit them to re-roll 1’s. It might seem like a small bonus but it makes a huge difference for Hellblasters. Great job!
It’s always great to see such amazingly painted armies at tournaments! We’re sure to see a bunch more Dark Angel armies with the supplement coming out soon, and maybe even a few tournaments will run this year… Maybe.
Do you like the look of this army? What’s your favorite unit for the Dark Angels in 9th?
