The CaptainCon 2022 GT happened over the weekend with some pretty sweet 40k army lists taking the top spots!
The tournament is over and now we’re able to look at which lists managed to secure a place at the top! Check out what these winners brought in their armies.
CaptainCon 2022 GT: Top 40k Army Lists
Thanks to Best Coast Pairings we are able to look back at the event as if we were there ourselves. You can also check out the details for the event here.
If you wanted to see the names and factions of the overall winners, we’ve included that below.
3rd Place: Lucas Patruno – Slaanesh
2nd Place: Lucas Patruno – Orks
1st Place: Brady Tatro – Custodes
Brady took on the challenge of winning with the new custodes and did it with flying colors! He opted for a single battalion led by Trajann and a Jetbike Captain. They are flying the Emperor’s chosen colors getting the stupid easy re-rolls and survivability strat.
Trajann is great because of his great combat prowess and hit/wound re-roll aura to all nearby core units. He also has a neat trick to fight twice once in a game to essentially delete nearly any model or squad in the game solo. The Jetbike captain similarly has a good hit re-roll aura but also has the benefit of better shooting and mobility making for a ranged threat that’s hard to take down.
Troops bring in a total of 9 Sagittarum, which are some great models thanks to their 4+ invuln and good combat stats.
Elites see a single unit of 3 Wardens. They help protect characters by preventing them from being targeted by ranged weapons when nearby.
Fast Attacks have a huge chunk of points and bring in 9 Vertus Praetors. These are high mobility units and are perfect for some devastating charges into melee combat. Plus the new Salvo launchers are no joke as well.
Finally, there is a single Grav-tank, which may not be as strong as they once were, but are still good tanks thanks to their durability and good weapons.
