Here are all the new Warhammer 40k Codexes for Khorne, Tzeentch, and Nurgle, plus new units like the Slaughterbound and Sekhetar Robots revealed by GW.

Updated on April 13th, 2025, by Rob Baer with new information and links to relevant content.

Chaos isn’t waiting for its turn. Khorne, Tzeentch, and Nurgle just kicked down the door with three new Warhammer 40k Codexes—and battleforces. The World Eaters now have the Slaughterbound, a Berzerker who’s basically part Bloodthirster.

Death Guard are dripping with new detachment options. And the Thousand Sons? They’ve added towering Sekhetar Robots packed with arcane firepower and tricked-out sorcery. If you thought the Emperor’s Children had their moment, the rest of the pantheon is here to remind everyone who really runs the warp.

Let’s talk rules, models, and why Chaos players are eating well in 2025.

New Chaos Codexes and Units for Warhammer 40k

The Chaos Gods don’t do “sharing.” So, when the Emperor’s Children stepped into the spotlight recently, you knew the others wouldn’t sit still for long. Now, Khorne, Tzeentch, and Nurgle are rolling in hot with new units, fresh Codexes, and a whole lot of warp-fueled mayhem.

Let’s break it down, god by god—because there’s a lot to get excited about, and yes, your wallet should start sweating now.

World Eaters Get a New Beast: Slaughterbound Arrives

world eaters codexKhorne’s not subtle, and neither is the new Slaughterbound. Think Eightbound, but even more angry. This towering brute has let a full-on Bloodthirster shack up in his soul, because apparently, regular rage just wasn’t cutting it.

World Eaters slaughterboundThe new Codex: World Eaters is soaked in lore, blood, and rules. With daemonic units like Bloodletters and Bloodthirsters now integrated directly into the Codex, Khornate armies can field chaos demons and berserkers in one of five unique detachments. You want carnage? You got it.

Death Guard Bloat Up With New Options

Death Guard codexNurgle’s children are back with six disgusting detachments in the new Codex: Death Guard. Whether you’re building a slow-moving tide of plague or a more elite force centered around the Lord of Poxes, there’s plenty of variety packed in here.

Death GuardAlso worth noting—Nurgle’s daemons now live side-by-side with their mortal pals in the Codex. Expect more synergy, more sludge, and more ways to make your opponent feel grossed out and slightly offended.

Thousand Sons Deploy Sekhetar Robots

Tzeentch New ModelsTzeentch has ditched subtlety for spectacle, introducing the Sekhetar Robots. These ancient machines are covered in spells and illusions, making them hard to pin down until it’s too late. Arcane weapons? Check. Hellfyre missiles? Absolutely.

Tzeentch CodexThe Codex: Thousand Sons includes rules for Flamers, Screamers, Pink Horrors, Blue Horrors, and of course, your favorite feathered chaos lords—Kairos Fateweaver and the Lord of Change. Five detachments offer flexibility, but the star of the show might just be those new robots. They’re flashy, deadly, and very on-brand.

Special Editions 40k Chaos Codexes:

chaos codexes

Each of the new Chaos Codexes—Khorne, Nurgle, and Tzeentch—is getting a special edition release. They come packed with lore, art, and a collectible medallion segment. Grab all four (including Slaanesh) and you’ll complete an unholy Chaos symbol.

It’s a clever way to tempt fans of every god into collecting the full set, and honestly, it’s working.

Each Faction Gets A Battleforce

Chaos fans, it’s your time to shine—or fester, burn, and rage across the galaxy, depending on which god you’ve pledged your dice rolls to. Three fresh battleforces have crashed in from the warp, each one crammed with character, carnage, and enough plastic to make your backlog cry.

The World Eaters are bringing the heat with the Gorestorm Slaughterpack—a mix of chainaxes and Eightbound fury. The Death Guard show up rotting and ready in the Poxwrought Vector, dragging plenty of Plagues along for the ride. And the Thousand Sons? They’re flexing their psychic muscles with the Warpflame Thrallband, complete with those new towering Sekhetar Robots.

World Eaters Battleforce

World Eaters Battleforce

This one’s got everything a World Eater needs to ruin someone’s day. You’re getting 9 Eightbound ready to tear through anything that twitches, the brand-new Slaughterbound bossing them around, and 20 Jakhals to flood the field, grab objectives, and generally make a bloody mess of things.

It’s elite murder up front, chaos chores in the back—just the way Khorne likes it.

Death Guard Battleforce

Death Guard Battleforce

The Death Guard are oozing onto the scene with a disgustingly good lineup: 7 Plague Marines, 5 Blightlord Terminators, a Plagueburst Crawler, a Blight-hauler, a Foetid Bloat-drone, and the brand-new Lord of Poxes calling the shots (and probably coughing a lot).

You’ve got tough infantry, chunky armor, and enough gross floaty things to make any opponent feel queasy. So, whether you’re kicking off a new plague party or just topping up the infection, this box has all the right symptoms.

Thousand Sons Battleforce

Thousand Sons Battleforce

The Thousand Sons are cutting the goat-men and going full warp-powered fireteam in this new box. You’re getting a trio of Exalted Sorcerers running the psychic show, backed by four of the brand-new Sekhetar Robots, five Scarab Occult Terminators, and ten Rubric Marines who look cool and shoot cooler.

It’s all killer, no Tzaangor filler—and if you’ve been waiting for an excuse to grab the new hotness and build a solid core army, here it is, floating in on a warp tide.

Where’s the Chaos Daemons Codex? You’re Looking at It

KaranakThere’s no standalone Codex: Chaos Daemons this time around. Instead, daemons for Khorne, Tzeentch, Slaanesh, and Nurgle are now folded into their respective god-specific Codexes. But if you want to run a pure daemons army, the Index: Chaos Daemons has you covered.

The digital Index will update with each new Codex release, so points and datasheets stay current. Oh—and yes, Karanak is coming back to claim his spot in the rules again for the World Eaters, and Daemons.

Final Thoughts: New Chaos Codexes & Battleforces

Special Edition codex

With all four Chaos powers getting refreshed Codexes, new models, and special editions, Chaos players have a buffet of wicked options in 2025. Whether you’re smashing skulls with Khorne, rusting the battlefield with Nurgle, or rewriting fate with Tzeentch, there’s never been a better excuse to paint something sinister.

Just don’t tell your loyalist friends. Or do. You’ll probably be fighting them soon anyway.
