asmodee-saleHere is what may be in store for your favorite games as Asmodee has reportedly been sold to the Embracer Group for over 2 Billion euros!

Asmodee is one of the biggest conglomerates in the entire industry. Chances are they make a tabletop or board game you either have played or currently own. They have bought up all kinds of companies in the past few years and the sales have to be doing well for a sale price of over 2 Billion Euros.

PAI bought Asmodee (back in 2018) for 1.2 billion which seems like a lot, but they are ramping up the sale price to over double that price to 2.75 Billion Euros

PAI Partners, the owners of Asmodee, sold to the Embracer Group is a Sweden-based company with 8 different operating groups, lots of which are in the mobile and PC gaming realm. They now own a lot of the games we love, so hopefully, they treat them right!

With a background in gaming, we think they will and will for sure be trying to grow the company, which means more game support.

Asmodee Bought by Embracer Group for Over 2 Billion

asmodee walAs of right now, it looks like they are not planning any restructuring, even CEO Stephane Carville is staying through the process. It looks like Asmodee will continue to run as its own separate entity. Instead of restructuring and changing how the company runs. Apparently, the Embracer Group wants to use its video game platforms and other assets to bring the IP from both companies to one another.

Embracer Group Statement:

X-men-New-Marvel-Crisis-protocolHere’s what the Embracer Group had to say about the rationale behind the giant purchase:

  • If the transaction is completed, Asmodee would become the ninth operating group of Embracer. Moving Embracer towards becoming a leading independent global gaming eco-system and becoming Europe’s largest gaming group.
  • Strong strategic and cultural fit between the companies. The combined new group would on pro forma basis have more than 11,300 employees and contracted employees across more than 50 countries. The new group would have 108 own game development studios and more than 560 owned IPs and brands.
  • The acquisition adds, immediately accretive to shareholders, approximately 30 percent in forecasted Operational EBIT. With approximately 7.5 percent dilution of outstanding shares (based in the number of shares today including the shares that would be issued as part of the purchase price and put option).

We’ll have to see if this mixes anything up. But as of right now, it doesn’t seem to be bad. If they just let them keep running as they are now, we won’t complain!

Do you think Asmodee being sold is a good thing?
