Spiderman debutGolden Age comics often sell for absurd collector prices, but the first comic appearance of Spider Man just became the most expensive comic ever sold!

Amazing Fantasy #15 (the first appearance of Spider Man) was the first comic book to beat the previous sales record set at $3.25 Million by Action Comics #1 (Superman’s debut) on ComicConnect.

But why is it so special and how much did it sell for?

Well for starters, this comic is in absolutely pristine condition and is among 1 of only 4, 9.6 graded comics of this edition, making an unbelievably rare find for an already rare book. It is even crazier to know that apparently no Amazing Fantasy #15 has ever been graded higher than 9.8.

This truly is a diamond among gems for any comic book collector.  With some of the scene set, just how much did it actually sell for!? The magic number is… $3.6 m-m-m-million dollars!

While 99.99% of us don’t have that kind of cash to spend on collectibles, it really is mind-boggling how some of us have seen or even read this issue in person before and never would have imagined it climbing to that value!

Have you read this issue before? What’s the earliest comic you’ve read? Do you still own your old comics?
