Forge World May Have a Big Problem On Their Hands

Thunderhawks-walpaper-e1472649552125Forge World may have a problem on their hands as their latest “free” competition/promotion may not have been proofread so well…

What’s the big problem here you ask? It appears Forge World may be running a promotion for countries that customers may not be eligible for, or it could be as simple as a copypasta error…

While there is some confusion about this promotion, if you are on the excluded list below you may not want to go crazy spending money to enter the giveaway.

The Promotion Details

Forge world problemBefore we get into the issues, here are the details on the promotion from Warhammer Community:

Forge World is celebrating some of its largest and mightiest kits with their When Giants Walk promotion, just in time for Christmas! For every £50 (or local equivalent) you spend at ForgeWorld.co.uk between Friday the 3rd of December and Monday the 27th of December, you’ll get one entry into the prize draw.

Five lucky winners will receive their choice of an enormous walker, with options ranging from the Exalted Greater Daemons and the spindly Tyranid Hierophant Bio-Titan to the greatly feared Acastus Knight Porphyrion, or even Vorgaroth the Scarred atop Skalok the Skull Host of Khorne.

While winning stuff is always cool, paying this much just to enter for a chance to win isn’t as much fun, especially when half of the world may be excluded.

Now let’s break down the issue(s):

Forge World May Have a Big Problem On Their Hands

Forge world problem 3When you are signed into the US side of the site, this is the banner that shows up. Guess what, it not only has the promotion, it also sets the currency into the bottom right to the correct amount for your country.

Nothing too crazy there right? Well, that is until you actually read the terms and conditions of the ‘giveaway’.

Forge world problem 2Even though it automatically changes the currency, it says you can’t win from the United States among others, even though it’s the opening banner and changes the currency.

So we set the region to all the other excluded countries one by one, and as of this writing, Forge World’s site showed a banner promoting the giveaway and soliciting entries regardless.

We’re not sure what happened here, but it just feels a little worrisome. Because if you can’t win, Forge World shouldn’t be promoting it in that country, right? Plus there may be a legal component as well if orders were placed in those countries that violate national laws…

We’re not sure if this is another one of the many copypasta errors from Games Workshop or someone who did the programming just didn’t read the terms and conditions, etc.

Either way, just something to think about if this was your motivation for ordering…

The one thing you can do to be sure (considering the entries run for a while) is to contact customer service for Forge World and straight up ask them. They almost always get back to inquires in 3-5 days during the current era.
