Here are all the latest Horus Heresy FAQs for the new edition, including changes for the core rules, Astartes, Hereticus, and Mechanicum.
Games Workshop has released a lot of FAQs for the new edition of Horus Heresy, so it is interesting to see what they think is worth changing each time.
We’ll cover some of the big changes here for each update, but we won’t look at everything inside each one, as there are tons and tons of changes this time around. If you play the game, it’s good to look and see what’s changing.
GW Drops New Horus Heresy FAQs & Legacy Army Rules: (December 5th, 2023)
The new Horus Heresy FAQs & Legacy Army Rules updates come from Warhammer Community.
Warhammer: The Horus Heresy is a game of fierce, bloody battles set during an all-consuming galactic civil war. A large number of new units and rules publications have been added to the game since its release last year, and the team has spent time poring over the vast majority of the currently published material, answering questions, adjusting values for some Legacy units, and clearing up certain rules in a series of Errata and FAQ documents.
There are six new FAQs and three sets of new rules for the legacy armies, so it looks like GW will at least keep them somewhat updated, which is nice.
Core Rules FAQ
The Age of Darkness Rulebook, Liber Astartes, and Liber Hereticus have each received a number of updates, including clarifications to Reactions that let you make a Shooting Attack or react to a Charge, clearing up how Graviton and Haywire weapons work against mixed squads, and answers to various FAQs. You can download all three below – all changes are in magenta, for ease of reading.
There are a lot of clarifications to reactions in the core rules, as they can be a little confusing. So, if you’ve had any questions about them, this should hopefully clear them up.

Liber Astartes & Liber Hereticus FAQs
Considering these both got a big FAQ last year, this time, it’s just some more clarifications on wargear and a few smaller questions.
Download the Liber Astartes FAQ here.
The main focus of the Hereticus FAQ focuses on the Achean force, along with a few questions as well.

Other Horus Heresy FAQs
The Liber Imperium corrects some profiles for Sisters of Silence units like the Kharon Acquisitor, while the Liber Mechanicum receives an important change to Knights Armiger, making them susceptible to Haywire, Detonation, Armourbane (X), and Battlesmith (X) in the same manner as Dreadnoughts.
Exemplary Battles: Volume One also tidies up certain interactions in the new Legiones Hereticus rules for Fulgrim’s corrupted Legion.
There were some issues with profiles in these books, so it’s nice to get some bigger FAQs for them!
Legacy factions and esoteric units have also had a careful eye cast over them, with changes directly incorporated into new versions of the downloadable documents. You’ll find increased durability on Marauder aircraft, a clarification to Imperialis Militia Voidjumpers, a boosted blast radius for the Praetor Armoured Assault Launcher, and more, plus a bundle of points changes throughout the Legacies of the Age of Darkness.
Last but not least, if you play any of the more off-meta armies, they are also getting some updates as well!
Horus Heresy FAQ: December 9th, 2022
The updates come from Warhammer Community. Let’s take a closer look!
These four books are grabbing an update this time (identical to September). There’s a decent amount updated, but they did a good job of covering the main changes below:
V1.1 of the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Age of Darkness Rulebook FAQ and Errata includes updates to clarify the timing of Reactions in the Shooting Phase, including Return Fire, and it also explains which Unit Types can benefit from Shrouded (X) Damage Mitigation rolls.
Additionally, frequently asked questions regarding Surge Moves, the use of the Battlesmith (X) special rule, and Disembarkation of models following the Explodes result on the Vehicle Damage table are addressed.
V1.1 of the Liber Hereticus FAQ and Errata mirrors the relevant sections of the Liber Astartes document, clarifies Alpharius’ Pythian Scales rule, and answers questions regarding access to Psychic Disciplines for Thousand Sons units.
V1.0 of the Liber Imperium FAQ and Errata adds or amends wargear options for the Leman Russ Strike Squadron, Solar Auxilia Malcador Heavy Tank Squadron, and the Clade Vanus Infocyte Assassin. Errors have been corrected in the Wargear entries of the Culexus Assassin, Callidus Assassin, and Custodes Tarsus Buckler, along with the addition of the Melta Cutters Wargear entry.
You can download all the FAQs here.
Free Rules for Classic Solar Auxilia
It’s always good to get free rules, even if they are just expanded units. Here’s what they have to say about the update:
The rules in this PDF cover Expanded units, and are intended to accompany the Core units found in print. As such, they are subject to potential future revisions. You’ll notice we’ve included rules for the Davinite Lodge Priest and the Expeditionary Navigator – I’m really looking forward to seeing what conversions and kitbashes the talented Horus Heresy community comes up with to represent these characters!

GW Drops 4 New Horus Heresy FAQs: September 22nd, 2022
From Warhammer Community, here’s what they have to say about the FAQs:
And speaking of the Legiones Astartes document, we’ve taken the opportunity to update this based on feedback from Warhammer: The Horus Heresy players, which we’re always happy to receive. If you have any such feedback on the rules or miniatures, especially when informed by games you’ve played, we’d love to hear it via [email protected].
Starting with the core rules, a bunch of questions are being asked which makes sense. One thing to consider, since this is the first FAQ for HH, the “changes” are just in black, and we’ll later see the colors coming in.
One of the biggest changes might be that Shroud is getting totally reworked.
Next up is Mechanicum; the errata adds a ton of extra special rules to the book and more keywords.
From there, we have the heretics, again a lot of it is just a lot of special rules thrown in, points adjusted, and some added profiles.
Last but not least are the Loyalists; they actually have some bigger changes to unit entries. The Lascutter profile is changing to match the other one, and then a lot of the Primarch special rules are changing.
You can download all four of the new FAQs here.
