Warhammer+ has been plagued by delays basically from the beginning, but GW has finally admitted they need to fix some problems.
We’ve been calling it how we see it with Warhammer+ Plus and the main thing we always said was if it actually worked, and had lots of animations, it could be worth it. However, it just hasn’t felt worthwhile to us. Maybe them actually listening to the community means they understand some of the issues with it.
In a recent Warhammer Community article, they finally admitted they know the platform has issues. So while it might not be the biggest leap into the future, it’s a small step towards what needs to be done.
We want this to work as it could be a good way to deliver Warhammer points changes and rules updates, dope new animations, etc…
Let’s first check out what they said, then dive into some of the issues.
GW Pledges to Fix Problems with Warhammer+ Plus
After another delay, Games Workshop has pledged to fix the problems with Warhammer+ Plus.
Episode 2 of The Exodite was set to go live today. Unfortunately, due to a convergence of circumstances beyond our control, it has been delayed for a few days.
We’ll let you know as soon as it’s ready – we know loads of you are keen to see what happens next to Shas’vre Lako’ma’s intrepid Stealth Team. Rest assured we’re working to bring you Episode 2: Inferno really soon.
Let’s hear what GW had to say about making Warhammer+ Plus better overall.
We also wanted to let you know that we’ve been listening to all of your feedback. You want more shows, releasing regularly, and to know what’s coming further in advance.
Good news – we’re taking steps to increase our Warhammer TV content across the board. It won’t be long before you’ll begin to see the pace pick up, and over the next few months, you can look forward to a more regular and robust line-up for Warhammer+ subscribers.
Soon you can look forward to a new animation episode every other week, with no big breaks between shows. We’re gradually increasing episode lengths as well. Battle Report, Loremasters, Citadel Colour Masterclass, and other non-animated shows will ramp up as we move towards one of each show per week. We’re also looking at expanding what types of shows we make, and we’ll be looking for your thoughts on that in the near future to make sure you’re getting the Warhammer hobby programs you want to see.
So while this isn’t a crazy announcement, it’s definitely a step in the right direction. They don’t often admit when they are wrong, so it’s good to see them saying they know they have issues.
Let’s hope they stick with this and actually keep the animations coming. The biggest thing might be the promise to keep animations going every week. We’ll know soon enough if they stick with it.
Now, let’s see why they are changing their tune and some of the problems with Warhammer+ Plus that they have needed to fix.
GW Walking Back Warhammer+ Content Release Schedule
This is the big change right here from the Warhammer+ FAQ. They originally said content would be added every week, now it says it will be most Wednesdays. We might be looking into this too much but it gives them some leeway when it actually comes to adding content.
Every Wednesday will see new content added. The Loremaster series will also be joining the service from Wednesday the 1st of September, followed by Warhammer Age of Sigmar: The App later that month.
The above is from them, and already they have walked that back, and Loremaster rolled out on September 8th 2021 a week later than promised…
In a recent post, the text looks to have been changed to be “practically every Wednesday”, then a paragraph later they put “every Wednesday”, so again, not a huge change, but it does most likely mean there will be weeks in the coming future where there will be no new content for a week.
Plus it also seems like they went back and edited the post, without realizing there was another instance of that same “every Wednesday” verbiage still there. Either way, don’t be surprised in the coming weeks if we see a couple of gap weeks.
Loremaster & When is the AoS App coming?
They originally said Loremaster would be in here the first of September and obviously, that was a week late already with no notice of the change other than to say, it’s coming out a week later.
So while this isn’t a huge issue, it just seems like GW promised so much at launch, and now are realizing it might be harder than they thought.
While the AoS app has been promised sometime in September, of which there is still plenty of time left, but with all the walk-backs of the release schedule, that didn’t launch as planned either…
So if you’re holding your breath in 2022 about getting Warhammer+ Plus, the app does have value, it might just be a little slower on updates than we all were hoping…
How To Get the Most Out or Warhammer Plus
So, what’s the hack? It’s super simple, Wait until August 2022 to sign up! The hope is that after a year has passed then they will have so much to watch you can straight Netflix it and binge through your favorite shows. As of right now, it’s a waiting game instead of a binging game.
While that may sound sort of obvious, you could get the app for a couple of months if you’re really dying to see the shows, watch them all, then, well… hopefully they have more by then.
Plus if they haven’t even released all the titles they announced during their sizzle reel preview from a year and a half ago (at that point in August 2022), well then I guess we will all know the rate at which they plan on releasing their content for sure.
Speaking of August 2022, the app will have been out for a year and to us, that means if they don’t have enough shows to binge by then, they simply may never will! Let’s hope this remains true with the new promise for more content, more often!
