Games Workshop announced they deleted scalpers orders for The End and The Death Vol III Limited Edition and will sell that additional stock!
In this article, we’ll be discussing Games Workshop’s proactive approach to dealing with scalpers and their underhanded tactics. Not only will there be more The End and The Death limited editions for sale soon, but it looks like the stock will come from accounts that bought more than one! These went for wild prices on eBay before they were even available for sale from GW, so we love that they did this.
Games Workshop Purges Scalpers Orders in a Stroke of Genius
If you missed out on a copy, you’ll have another chance to get one, as it’s going up for a second pre-order at the same time worldwide for everyone. Here is the latest on The End and The Death pre-order part two.
With just 2,500 copies available, we expected exceptional demand and set a limit of one per customer on the webstore, to keep things fair and to give as many fans as possible the chance to complete their collections.
Unfortunately, we saw an influx of people trying to purchase multiple copies, some aiming to make a resale profit – underhanded tactics worthy of Erebus himself.
We are committed to only selling one per customer, so we have rejected any orders where a purchaser has tried to get more than one copy. Our tech-savants aren’t revealing their methods, but needless to say they are not to be trifled with.
Games Workshop revealed that it has deleted scalpers orders and will sell the additional stock. Perhaps best of all, the stock will come from accounts that bought more than one, which is great news for fans who missed out on the first pre-order. The company’s decision to cancel scalper orders and limit the purchase to one book per customer ensures a fair distribution of the limited edition copies to genuine fans.
The one book per person seemed like a good idea, but with how many copies some people got, it didn’t work out quite like they expected. However, it’s cool to see them going back and finding who got more than one book and canceling the orders! This means there will be more books for actual hobbyists and fans who want a copy for their shelf!
This has left us with extra stock, and the books will be going back on sale at 16:00 GMT on Wednesday the 24th of January on Warhammer.com. The store will go live at the same time in all locations – see the graphic below for details. There will be a queue in place once again.
If you want another shot at a copy, be sure to get on the store on Wednesday (or Thursday, depending)! The order time isn’t too bad unless you live in Australia. Since the pre-order is at the same time worldwide for everyone., we’re sure they will put the queue back in place. We also hope they can keep all orders to one per person on the second pre-order.
Scalpers Corner The Market on Last Signed Horus Heresy Books
As you can see on eBay, the average buy-it-now price was nearly $450 (compared to $80), which is just wild.
In conclusion, Games Workshop’s decision to cancel scalper orders and sell the additional stock of The End and The Death Vol III Limited Edition is a great move that will be welcomed by fans and hobbyists alike. By limiting the purchase to one book per customer, the company has ensured a fair distribution of the limited edition copies to genuine fans. It’s great to see such a proactive approach to dealing with scalpers and their underhanded tactics. We hope that other companies will follow suit and take similar actions to ensure that fans can get their hands on limited-edition items without having to pay exorbitant prices to scalpers. If you missed out on the first pre-order, be sure to mark your calendar for the second pre-order on Wednesday, the 24th of January, and get your copy before they sell out again.
What do you think about this idea from Games Workshop to deal with the scalpers and pricing for the last Horus Heresy book, The End and the Death III?
