The USPS has suspended shipping to Australia from the USA amid COVID concerns, here are all the details.
The USPS site just updated its international mail service suspensions today, and surprisingly (for us at least) Australia has made the list. Due to a new wave of COVID spreading across Australia, and the potential impact that the packages could have. This is a closure being forced by Australia in all mail centers to help combat the new wave.
We are expecting, a bigger statement from USPS soon, but at the time of writing they haven’t released much. eBay did release a little statement, which we’ll take a look at.
Heads Up, USPS Suspended Shipping To Australia
A lot of the other countries have been on the list for a while, but obviously, Australia is the focus today. This is a big deal for game companies that ship to Australia and all Australian hobbyists. If you buy from the USA that is.
Let’s look at the announcement from eBay:
As of Friday, September 3, 2021, USPS will temporarily suspend some international services to Australia. This suspension is due to COVID-19 transportation cancellations and restrictions. Impacted services include the following:
- First-Class Package International Service (FCPIS)
- Commercial ePacket (CeP)
- International Priority Airmail (IPA) Packets
- International Surface Air Lift (ISAL) Packets
USPS has also confirmed all packages which have not been processed by the International Service Center (ISC) will be processed as “Return to Sender”.
