For ages Hobby Lobby had 40% off coupons you could use on anything, now it looks like that may be a thing of the past…
Hobby Lobby is a popular store for Airbrushes, paint, and just about any “non-gw” hobby supplies, you could ever want. The best part is that most of us here in the States are within driving distance to one.
For as long as any of us can remember you could always get 40% off any one regular priced item in-store with their online coupon. Now it looks like Hobby Lobby is making the move to more direct and targeted sales instead.
Hobby Lobby Discontinues Their Biggest Promotion…
The official statement regarding the discontinuation is found via a Facebook comment reply:
“As of February 28th, 2021, Hobby Lobby will no longer be offering the 40% off coupon in stores or online. By making this decision, we are intensifying our efforts to discount thousands of items every day. This will offer a better value instead of providing a discount on only one item with the coupon.”
For a lot of hobbyists, this coupon was a huge selling point for getting us into the stores and saving us some hobby dollars at the same time.
The tradition will end on February 28th, but supposedly in some locales, you will have until March 14th to use any coupons you may have. Even if the prices are lower storewide, coupons are a great way to make people feel good about going into the store to buy things.
It might technically be better for consumers who get multiple things when they stop by, but if you only get one or two items every month or so, you may be losing out without that 40% coupon.
We might see a similar situation as to when JCPenny did a similar “fewer coupons” approach and it backfired hard, making sales dip a ton and causing them to revert the change.
People online have certainly not liked the idea, with the topic exploding over social media in a thread that has nearly 1000 comments in just two days already.
