Clean the mold lines on both plastic and resin miniatures easily with the Mr. Hobby polisher sander, which is perfect for Warhammer!
Do mold lines have you pulling your hair out? Not anymore with this unique tool that helps eradicate those pesky mold lines! Especially considering the new edition of Horus Heresy and Old World will have both plastic and resin pieces, get it all done with this one tool! To note (very seriously, obviously), this is not a toothbrush, even though it sometimes looks like one.
So don’t try to make this a triple threat, and use it to remove those mold lines from your teeth! Anyways… Rob did a quick review of how to use it and sees how well it actually works below!
Clean Plastic & Resin Mold Lines on Miniatures Models
Getting rid of mold lines on plastic miniatures or models is not the most exciting aspect of the hobby, but this polisher tool can make it go faster.
The Cordless Polisher Pro is a hobby tool with an oscillating head that can help sand down those mold lines. The Polisher has some sticky pads with gritty surfaces like an Emory board. Other tools in the market can be too much for plastic miniatures, chipping away at crucial components instead of a pesky mold line.
How it Works
One of the best parts about this is it’s pretty easy to use. Just be sure to use light pressure on your models when using the polisher tool. Rob turns it on and applies it to the model everywhere that has a line with that light and consistent pressure. It does the rest and takes the lines off!
The 1000-grit pads are great for light and easy mold line removal. Just go back over the lines until you’re happy with the results. It’s honestly that simple. The Polisher leaves a super smooth surface on your models after using it.
More Detailed Minis
It may be more difficult to hit the mold lines with the Polisher on more detailed and intricate models. Just revert to your hobby knife to get hard-to-reach mold lines. So, while this can’t reach every little nook and cranny, it’s still great for 90% of your hobbying.
Cleaning Mold Lines on Forge World Miniatures
The Polisher easily removes big exposed chunks of flash and mold lines. Just switch up your grit pad heads to a smaller grit count to hit those tougher plastics.
A 600-grit pad works great, even on those Forge World models, now known as expert resin kits… but that’s a story for another day, as it’s still Forge World in our hearts!
Final Thoughts on Cleaning Plastic & Resin Mold Lines on Miniatures Models
Slip molds on Forge World models can be a huge pain to deal with. A safe and easy solution has been difficult to find, but the Polisher is ready for the job!
The Polisher Pro can sand down even the toughest mold lines on your plastic and resin models. Add this tool to your hobby tool kit to help make your assembly smooth and fun! Especially if you’re considering getting into Horus Heresy or Old World, where you’ll have both resin and plastic minis.
