Malcador Heavy Tanks Join the Ranks of Legions Imperialis

The-Horus-Heresy-–-Legions-Imperialis-warhammer-40k-epic-scaleWe’ve seen a bunch of tanks for the game, but more support is on the way as Malcador Heavy Tanks rumble into Legions Imperialis!

If you’ve patiently waited for Epic Warhammer 40k to return, it’s being rebranded in the Horus Heresy era as Legions Imperialis.

While we’ve seen plenty of the miniatures in the starter box, it’s always nice to see what else will come to the game! If you want to see some of the core rules, you can check those out here. Let’s jump into the new miniatures.

Malcador Heavy Tanks Join the Ranks of Legions Imperialis

The latest on the new Malcador Heavy Tanks for Legions Imperialis come from Warhammer Community.

Joining these companies are two additional variants of the Malcador Heavy Tank, a vehicle whose design can be traced all the way back to the Age of Strife.

Envision this scenario: your opponent has squads of infantry garrisoned in a densely packed city environment – sure, you could bring all those structures down with a salvo of shells from your Medusas, but that just leaves ruins for your foe to hunker down in.

The Malcador Infernus solves this problem with its inferno gun, which unleashes ceaseless torrents of inescapable flame – the correct way to remove stubborn stains and dug-in infantry. It even has a little carriage with a fuel tank hitched to it, enabling it to maintain that torrent of purifying flame.

Just look how giant those flamers are! If you need to burn out the enemy, these are the models for you.

However, it’ll take more than promethium to make a meaningful dent in a vanguard of armoured vehicles storming across open fields, which is why the Valdor Tank Hunter is so appealing. By sacrificing a sponson, the Malcador chassis can be outfitted with a powerful neutron beam laser able to perforate even the heaviest armour, presumably with a satisfying pop.

They mention in the box you’ll get a pair of each, and the Valdor Tank Destroyers will come with the option of lascannon or autocannon sponsons. Four tanks in a single box isn’t terrible, but we’ll have to see the price of it.
