Marvel is resurrecting the 90’s Heroes Reborn series for its 25 anniversary (yes the ’90s are that long ago…) and the artwork looks amazing!
The original run was very short-lived, but nostalgia may just come in handy and make the new run much more successful. The details on the reboot are very scarce so far, but Marvel has released 8 pieces from Carlos Pacheco to get people excited. If you loved the original, this should be right up your alley. While we don’t know if this will be a continuation of the old story, or something entirely new, the art looks great.
Marvel is Bringing Heroes Reborn Back for the 25th Anniversary
For those who don’t know, the original was a mash-up of a bunch of their most famous characters. At the time Marvel was tanking financially and was looking for new ideas to get people buying more comics. This series allowed them to basically create entirely new storylines for tons of their characters. It was basically an attempt to reboot both the Avengers and Fantastic Four franchises.
All the characters were thought to have died, but really Franklin Richards had managed to create a new Universe where they could live. And when they went to the new universe they had no memories of the world they left behind. Of course, this didn’t last. And within a year all the heroes were folded back into the normal universe with their memories restored.
We’ll just have to wait and see where this new reboot takes the characters. But it would make sense if somehow they are doing a similar thing. Where the heroes don’t know quite who they are and can make different lives for themselves. Or it could just be an extension from what happened in the ’90s. We’ll just have to wait and see! But either way, we’re sure they’ll do a good job with it and they’ll be fun to read.
What do you think about the reboot? Are you excited about it? Will you pick them up when they come out?
