Monument hobbies siteRob was pretty skeptical at first, and he wondered what could really set the knife apart. So, when Monument sent them over to him, he was surprised when the stuff was good enough to actually make a video on.

But, the cutting mat combo isn’t the only thing on there. They have all kinds of great tools, like the seam scraper which is way cheaper than the GW ones. Rob actually loves the glue as well. Lastly, the nice thing is if they are out of something, you can simply put your email in and they’ll send you an email when it’s back in stock.

All the Tools We’re Looking at Today

Monument Hobbies retractable cutter 2We’ll be taking a look at the mold line scrapper, the hobby cutter, and the cutting mat. Right off the bat, Rob thinks they are definitely worth your hobby dollars.

Hobby Cutter & Mat

Monument Hobbies retractable cutter 3First off, having it retractable can save you from stabbing or slicing yourself! Because we all know the little tops for the regular ones can be hard to keep. It goes out really far if you need it, but Rob’s been using it for a few weeks now and hasn’t needed to fully extend it. On top of that, with it not being round, it’s easy to hold and won’t roll off your desk and possibly stab you!

Monument Hobbies retractable cutter 4You can actually put a ton of force on the blue grip handle without having to worry about the knife going further out or retracting. As the blade only moves when you put downforce on the bottom part.

Monument Hobbies retractable cutter 5Replacing the blades are super easy, as all you have to do is take the top off, take out the old blade, and pop the new one in. They also fit with a bunch of other style blades as well, so if you have some to use up, it should work for those as well.

Hobby MatThe mat is just a great little addition to save your table from errant knife cuts! It’s pretty chonky, affordable, and just sweet overall. If you’re hobbying on a surface you don’t want to be messed up, it’s totally worth it. Also, Rob has been gluing above it so the table doesn’t get glue on it.

Seam Scraper

Seam Scraper

Seam ScraperWhen compared with the GW one, the Monument one is way more affordable and can really get around curved surfaces. It takes off the mold line in seconds and doesn’t mark up the minis. Rob was able to clean up this Space Marine in seconds.

Seam Scraper 2It’s most useful when you have a lightly curved area, it really just takes the mold lines away in seconds, and again for the price, it’s hard to beat! The GW does shine on really big things because it has more surface area, but for smaller stuff, Rob loves the Monument one.

That does it for this one, they are just some really great tools and Monument is a really cool company overall to support.
