More GW Tournaments Announced For The Fall

gw-tournamentsMore tournaments were just announced from GW as events are returning to their flagship center, Warhammer World!

Through all the hardships of the pandemic, GW is making an effort to have events at Warhammer World this year!

Games Workshop announced that a few of their major games; Kill Team, 40k, Horus Heresy, and Age of Sigmar, will each have dedicated tournament days in Nottingham at Warhammer World.

warhammer worldThey announced the news via Warhammer Community and an email in mid-August. Tickets also went live on August 30th! So if you are a UK hobbyist, be sure to pick up some if you are interested.

GW Announces Tournaments at Warhammer World

Now let’s dive into the details and go through them in order.

whw kill teamThe new edition is here, so bring your favourite Kill Team, matched play rosters, and some gaming accessories for a one-day tournament comprising four games. The wins (and bragging rights) go to the top three scorers. Extra prizes will be handed out to your favourite armies and favourite opponents.

Celebrating the new edition of Kill Team with a tournament sounds like a great idea, and with prizes going to favorite armies and opponents is a perfect way to keep everyone in a better “sportsmanship” mood.

If you are interested in this one, Tickets are currently for sale for 15 pounds a piece. You can buy them and check the full details here.

whw 40kReturn to Warhammer World for five games of Warhammer 40,000 across two days, with the three highest-scoring generals taking home the top prizes. You can also pick up awards for favourite army, best-painted army, and favourite opponent.

40k as the most popular can also be the most competitive, so having rewards in place for aspects of the game other than winning is always a positive for the greater community. Tickets are currently for sale at 65 pounds apiece.

The tournament features pretty standard rules, 2,000 points, bring copies of your list for staff and opponents, bring your own war gear like dice and rulers. Check out the full details and buy your ticket here.

whw 30kJoin your mates (or make some new ones) for a weekend of competitive gaming in the Age of Darkness. You’ll play five games over two days, with prizes going to the top three players, plus secondary awards for favourite armies, best painted, and favourite opponent.

Just like the 40k tournament weekend, make sure you come fully prepared. This is sure to be a nice event for the area in Nottingham as Horus Heresy events are sometimes few and far between.

If you are interested check the details and buy tickets for 65 pounds each here.

whw aosSpend a weekend of gaming fun with friends new and old. We’ll be using the new edition Warhammer Age of Sigmar core rules, and the battleplans and profiles from the General’s Handbook 2021. Winners will be determined by victory points accrued over five games – you get four points for a Major Victory, two points for a Minor victory, and one point for a draw.

Just like Wh40k and Horus Heresy, there will also be rewards for the favorite opponent, best-painted army, and favorite army. You’ll also be expected to have your rules handy, lists printed out, and your own set of dice and ruler to play with.

Tickets are 65 pounds apiece and can be found here with the full tournament details.

While these are only accessible to UK hobbyists, it’s a fantastic sign that things may start going back to normal. It’s also great to see GW stepping up and making an effort to get us all playing again after the long 2020-21 year of mostly just hobbying.

What do you think this is? Are you happy to hear GW push for in-house play again?
