star wars force friday 2Force Friday II will be taking place this week on September 1st and Fantasy Flight Games has something special planned for local game stores all over.

It’s almost time for another great Star Wars day, Force Friday II is right around the corner! Fantasy Flight Games is gearing up for something big, but they’re keeping it a surprise.Force Friday II

With the impending release of Star Wars™: The Last Jedi, Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce their participation in Force Friday II with a new Star Wars product!

Fantasy Flight Games has produced a large array of Star Wars™ products, from the X-Wing™ Miniatures Game to Star Wars™: Destiny. Each of these games has not only provided fantastic play experiences, but has drawn tabletop gamers into the very essence of the Star Wars galaxy. Fantasy Flight Games is known for consistently bringing the thrilling feel of Star Wars to players’ table, whether it’s the Millennium Falcon punching through an Imperial blockade in a game of X-Wing, a small but effective team of Rebel operatives destroying a shield generator in Imperial Assault, or training with a lost Jedi master in Force and Destiny™.

Now, we are very excited to continue to bring this passion for the epic space saga by participating in Force Friday II, which is sure to be one of the biggest Star Wars events of the year.

Force Friday is a global fan event celebrating the release of Star Wars products, toys, collectibles, books, apparel, and more. This year, Force Friday is back in celebration of Star Wars: The Last Jedi products launching on September 1st. This year’s goal is to make Force Friday even bigger and better than ever with an unprecedented global augmented reality initiative: “Find the Force.” This Force Friday, fans are invited to aid the Resistance by taking part in an AR treasure hunt for data chips that hold information about key personnel. Fans can use the Star Wars app on their phones from September 1st to 3rd to unlock life-size AR characters developed by ILM.

Find the Force is going to be an Augmented Reality initiative where people will be able to unlock life-sized AR characters in the Star Wars app, and take part in an AR treasure hunt for data chips that have information about key personnel in the Star Wars universe.

But, that’s not the only thing FFG is bringing to the table. ICv2 had a little bit more to say about FFG’s surprises for Force Friday.

Stores were approached several weeks ago by FFG and Alliance Game Distributors, the exclusive distributor of FFG products to the hobby board game channel about an upcoming Star Wars release that would tie into Force Friday.  Stores were told the retail price ($39.99) and number per case but had (and still have) no clue as to whether the item is an expansion set or piece for an already existing FFG Star Wars product or something entirely new.  Stores are hoping the release is a starter set to tease interest in 2018’s Star Wars Legions release but the majority of retailers from whom I have heard are putting their bets on a 2-player starter set for Star Wars Destiny.

So it could be a number of things, but all we know is it’s going to be a good reason to get down to your FLGS this Friday and take $39.99 with you. The chances of the product being related to Star Wars: Legion is slim to none, seeing that the game doesn’t release until next year. It will most likely be Destiny or X-Wing related. We saw a new X-Wing starter come out for The Force Awakens, so we could be seeing a starter for The Last Jedi perhaps?

We know it won’t be the Guns for Hire expansion, that will cost $29.95 and doesn’t meet the $39.99 retail price of the new release. So, it looks like we’ll have to wait a couple more days to find out what it is.

Make sure you check back in with us this Friday for any announcements or new products that may be revealed during Force Friday II.
