Armada is a totally new game is here from Mantic Games about naval battles in the fantasy world of Kings of War!
We won’t have to wait too long to get our hands on this new game! As it looks like it will be released in November to stores. If you love naval battles, or not having to play with a million minis, this will be worth checking out! The lore and background are based in the Kings of War world, but with the ruleset adopted from the Black Seas game.
The game will start with two factions, Orcs and Basileans, but they are expanding the line quickly. If you enjoy the Black seas ruleset by Warlord Games, you’ll feel right at home here. Let’s take a look at some of the incoming minis!
Armada Starter Set:
The starter set will give you everything you need to play. Each battle will take place between 6-9 ships, so the gameplay should be fast and furious! If you like all things fantasy, see what’s going on with it.
Here’s what they have to say about the gameplay:
Players command a fleet of six to nine ships to capture terrifying sea monsters, unleash devastating broadsides against their opponent, upgrade their ships with arcane magic, and execute daring boarding actions.
Basileans:
Each box comes with 3 highly detailed resin boats for you to command! They also give us a nice little size comparison with the Kings of War minis. This is one of the two factions being released at launch. They are also making the Dwarf sand the Empire of Dust very soon after.
Orcs:
The Orc kit will also come with 3 ships per box. We love the look and feel of the Orc ships, they look just seaworthy enough to float! It’s no Blood Angel size comparison, but it’ll do.
Battles:
Even with fewer models, it still seems like there is a ton going on! Systems with fewer minis but more in-depth rules can always be a good time. Here’s a little more about what to expect:
Based on the best-selling Black Seas ruleset by Warlord Games, Armada takes historical naval battles and gives them an epic fantasy twist.
That does it for this awesome new game preview! November isn’t too far away so keep your eyes peeled for more info.
