GW Summer Skirmish Preview
Welcome to a sensational summer for fans of skirmish games! Whether you enjoy small-scale special ops in the grim dark future, or compact chaotic clashes in the weird and wonderful Mortal Realms, big reveals are on the way.
Tons of reveals are on the way to fill in the release schedule around the big Warhammer Fest Previews back in May. Plus from the looks of these 9th and 10th Edition Warhammer 40k rumors, there are some very big things on the way including a loyalist Primarch and a new Starter Set.
New Blood Bowl Releases
New tidings from the Old World – straight from the sweltering jungles of Lustria, the Amazon team is here to tear up the astrogranite. This is a classic team brought back to life in vivid detail, with more than a few tweaks for the modern game of Blood Bowl.
A new all-female Blood Bowl team is arriving and they have a certain unique theme about them that some fans may really enjoy.
Kitted out in fabulous teal and saffron livery, the Kara Temple Harpies are organised into distinct positions inspired by their martial culture. Teams field Piranha Warrior Blitzers, Python Warrior Throwers, Jaguar Warrior Blockers, and Eagle Warrior Linewomen.
Like the Mayan inspiration or not, those wolverine claws will jack you up! (and any opposing Blood Bowl players too)
Amazon teams are as ferocious on the pitch as they are defending their hidden homelands from marauding foes – and they’ll soon be ready for primetime matches in the world of Blood Bowl.
New Underworlds Releases
The shadowy curse of the Nethermaze calls out to warbands all across the Mortal Realms. Whispers of great power and forbidden secrets unfurl in the minds of any adventurers who so much as think about Ulgu – but one new warband stands fast against such temptation, determined to scour evil from the labyrinth’s every crevice!
This mirthless band of Witch Hunters is led by Haskel Hexbane, who has been commanded by the clandestine Order of Azyr to bring the cleansing fires of justice to the abyssal heart of the Nethermaze.
The group of hunters would get little work done without their two trusty hounds! Or at least it’s fun to imagine so.
With a great variety united by a clear theme, Underworlds Warbands are great hobby experiences if you like what the group offers.
As with every Warhammer Underworlds warband, these grim crusaders come with a complete Rivals deck that you can use out of the box, or combine with other cards – such as the universal cards also included with the warband – to construct your own devious decks.
Speaking of what they offer, we also got these two cards to look at as far as rules go.
New Warcry Releases
The Gnarlwood is a vast and verdant, yet inhospitable, land full of terrifying predators and overgrown carnivorous plants, in which the flame-wreathed Horns of Hashut clash with the noxious guerilla fighters of the Rotmire Creed.
The next Warcry update is coming and it features an entirely new setting for the game.
Until this set, Warcry has, for the most part, not ventured into the other realms. But with access to the Varanspire and its translocomotion, it makes sense some of the fighting spilled out.
Warcry: Heart of Ghur is a new boxed game introducing a new edition of Warcry. It brings exciting changes and a new narrative focusing on the violence erupting in the Gnarlwood as disparate factions are drawn there by the great power within.
New boxes are always exciting, especially when they bring new settings or rules with them.
with a ton of models and terrain in the box, there’s plenty for everyone.
The Rotmire Creed butt heads with the Horns of Hashut in a string of bloody melees. These purveyors of plagues and putrefaction stalk the swamps and forests of Ghur, kidnapping unwary warriors to experiment on in their pursuit of putrid immortality.
With a clear theme of “swamp people” these models look like a serious threat.
In direct opposition to these filthy footpads are the Horns of Hashut. You may have encountered them before. These cultists are desperate to raze the greenery of Ghur to make way for the forges of their masters… and they’ve got a flamethrower.
With a stronger sense of military might, the opposing Warband might have trouble in the swamps of Ghur.
This crucible of life energy formed around the Realm-shaper engine of a crashed Seraphon temple-ship named Talaxis, creating a ferocious forest – which is beautifully represented by a brand new set of finely detailed terrain.
The box contains everything you need to play, including dice, tokens, cards, measuring sticks, a double-sided gaming board, a new core rulebook, and a Rot and Ruin campaign book detailing the skirmishes between the two warbands.
With a tome and new Core Book, this gets you everything you need to start playing warcry in the realm of beasts.
Here’s the most up-to-date list of new Games Workshop bits from preview models that we should watch out for. Click on the gallery above to see dozens of Rumor Engines with new models still left to be revealed!
