New Soulblight Gravelords Vampire AoS Rules

soulblight-gravelords-vampires-titleWith the book coming up for pre-order it was only a matter of time before we saw some previews for the Soulblight Gravelords Vampire rules!

Warhammer Community revealed some rules for how your vampire armies will act on the tabletop. With three (kind of four? because one can make 2 different vampires) new vampire kits revealed during Warhammer Fest, the line is really getting fleshed out.

The new minis are pretty crazy, and even though some people didn’t like the look, it does set them apart.

soulblight gravelords battltomeThere are three main rules to go over today. They didn’t give specific rules for the minis revealed, but more about what the overall army can do. Let’s get into it!

New Soulblight Gravelords Vampire Rules

Vampire rulesWhen you’re an immortal being suffused with potent death magic, learning to summon the dead is an appropriate hobby to take up – especially if you want to grow your undead horde. Soulblight Gravelords earned their name by raising massive armies of the dead to fight alongside them.

If you manage to destroy even one unit, you’ll have a 50% chance to resummon the unit. Obviously, you need to have a unit destroyed first, but that shouldn’t be too hard. Just charge them in ASAP and get them destroyed merely so you can bring them back!

Vampire rules 2These corpses are driven by the will of the necromancer, and those closest to their vampiric lords are even harder to put back down.

This isn’t too crazy, but staying near your heroes or gravesite, and you’ll be getting a 6+ FNP against any type of wound, so definitely pretty nice.

Vampire rules 3Notice the mention of gravesites there? At the beginning of battles, you can designate two spots on the battlefield that mark sources of plentiful corpses.

And if all that magical might wasn’t enough, Soulblight Wizards can double-cast spells if luck is on their side.

So first off, you get to set up two gravesites that will really buff your army. So be sure to deploy them well and play around them!  Next, getting to double-cast all your spells on a 9+ is pretty sweet. While it will only happen about a third of the time, when it does happen, it could really have a devastating effect!

Are you excited about the new book? Will you be picking up any of the new minis?
