IKEA Case Review feature rPut all the miniatures in the huge IKEA Milsbo case- and we even show you how to light it up with LEDs too!

Today Rob is back with another video to help make your hobby better! This time around he takes a look at the new IKEA Milsbo case to see how it does for holding minis, how hard it is to light, and if it’s worth your hard-earned hobby dollars!

You can either watch the full video or check out our highlights below. Let’s Go!

Put Your Miniatures In IKEA Milsbo Case & Light With LEDs

Milsbo caseThis is how the Mislbo cabinet comes from IKEA. Don’t worry, the case will soon be filled with all things gaming! It’s about 6 feet tall (including the legs) and 15″ deep with a width of 26″. Hopefully enough to store any GW mini.

Like most people during COVID, Rob had some extra time on his hands and figured why not upgrade the display cases! Because everybody was a little stir crazy, it took some time to actually get these from Ikea, but they were super friendly through the whole process. The Fabrikor runs $199 and at the time you could get it delivered to your house, not sure if you can anymore.

Also, this kit will work for any of the IKEA cases or even ones that aren’t, as long as you can get the wire inside and have a place to mount the LED strips

The Case:

Milsbo case 2It’s a better-designed case than the Deltofs but is a little more expensive, so it’s about how much you want to spend. It has locks, a powerful magnet to hold it closed, and self-leveling feet, the top of the case fits much better, and you can just put way more stuff inside.

Rob thinks if you have the extra money, it’s a way better buy overall.

The Old Cases:

Old CasesHe’s going to replace these cases with the new one. He’ll have to do the lighting again, but we’ll show how to do that as well. The doors of the Deltofs’ doors are much flimsier, you can’t put that much inside, and he can replace both of these with one new case.

LED Kit:

LED KitThis is what he’s using to light the new case, and because it’s so big, you’ll have to get two of them. The whole set is only $20.99, not a bad deal considering the ones from IKEA started at over $40, and to be honest, isn’t as bright or as customizable.

If you want to grab the same lights, we have the link for you right here.  It comes with 6 of the 20″ light strips, has a dimmer, remote, and 8 (4″ and 6″) of the hoppers/bracket pieces as well. It’s really nice to be able to adjust the lighting so you don’t have a blaring light all the time.

This is just one of the projects that Rob has detailed, If you want to see all of Rob’s Favorite hobby supplies, go check this list out- he swears by them all!

Lighting the New Case:

Lighting Milsbo CaseYou can see, if you pump this all the way up to 100% light, it really can get bright! But you can actually set the level, so no worries there. The nice thing is there are pre-drilled holes in the top, so that makes it much easier.

LED Wiring

Corner WiringA look at the wiring all around the case. It is super simple to install because it all just sticks on, but for the sides, you have to use the bracket pieces to get the extra distance and miss the hinges. So basically, all you have to do is take it out and stick it on.

You will have to cut some of the LED’s but that super simple, you just end up with a little leftover. Rob pulled the cord in from the top corner to hide the power source and then crisscrossed the top with LEDs. Then he pulled it down the side and just left it off the bottom.

Lighting Fix:

You can see how easily it holds all the minis from the other cases, and even has a shelf leftover. It fits the big guys super easily, and you could leave out a shelf if you want to keep in the biggest guys. Once it had all the minis inside it, it was a little dark in the middle. To fix the problem, Rob took those little extras from cutting the LEDs and ran a jumper across the bottom without any LEDs. Then put the little strips of leftover LEDs in the middle of the door, thus lighting up the middle!

Overall Rob really likes the case and if you have a little more cash to spend, he would definitely recommend it!
