eBay Miniature Rescues is back again with another video, and this time he’s rescuing the cheapest Warhammer mini he could find on eBay!
eBay Miniature Rescues is a unique channel that shows you how to take beat-up, damaged minis, and restore them to their fullest potential! It’s a relatively new channel on YouTube and it’s super fun to watch what Casey is able to do with some once hopeless miniatures. Be sure to check out all his stuff here!
This week though, he shows us how he restored the cheapest mini he could find on all of eBay. It turns out it’s a Chaos Sorceror from 1997! Let’s check it out.
Rescuing & Painting The the Cheapest Warhammer Mini
This was the mini he was able o grab for about $6 with shipping. It’s a Chaos Sorcerer from 1997 and isn’t in terrible shape. Let’s see how to bring it back to life!
Getting it Ready
He starts by throwing it in the ultrasonic cleaner for a few passes. Once the excess paint is off, he uses a Dremel with a wire brush attachment to get all the remaining gunk out of the joints. You have to do this so the metal has good contact to glue on. Just be sure to wear a mask when you’re doing this!

Working on the Base
He lays down some cork, cuts it how he wants it, and then lays down some sand. Just be sure to pin the mini if you’re using cork so it won’t be falling off.
Priming and Base Coats
He starts with a black primer and then hits a small highlight from the topdown with some white through the airbrush. Then he hits all the leather and trench coat with burnt umber ink, since this covers most of the mini, just be sure to take your time. To push the contrast he layers in some shadows with a dark brown using the brush. Then for a highlight, he uses a lighter brown moving up to light brown mixed with light flesh. For the metallics, he mixes silver and Vallejo Liquid Gold. For the face mask, he uses the same color as the cloak, just a little brighter.
Washing
Using AK AK Brown enamel, he washes the entire mini with it. He then takes a Q-tip to brush off the excess where he wants it lighter. Then he uses some green enamel wash on the metal and base to give it a swampy look.
OSL
The staff of the model will be where this comes from. He hits a light misting of white through the airbrush where he wants the light on the model. He starts with a light pink through the airbrush and hits the same places where he airbrushed white. He slowly just builds up the color to darker and darker until he’s happy with the color.
Finished Mini
There you have it, a mini that turned out pretty awesome and for super cheap!
